How can someone move on when having lost a relationship

    #2
You pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. I'm in the process of ending a 5-year relationship. Even though I am ending it, it's still difficult. It's hard to realize that all that time and effort went into a relationship that isn't forever. So I look at the good things, acknowldege the not-so-good things, realize neither of us were perfect, look at what I can do better in my next relationship and then close that chapter. You will move forward from this.

The only person that is with you 100% of your lifetime is you. Focus on you, what you want out of life and what you need to get yourself there. Pamper yourself a bit if you need to. Do something that you've wanted to do but hadn't for whatever reason. Buy those shoes or attend that concert. Do things that make you happy.
To those who dream, nothing is ever far away.

Distance is to love as wind is to fire. It blows out the little ones and fans the big ones.

It also depends on how your character is, on how difficult it is, on the circumstances of the break-up, and who initiated it. Sadly, I have experience...
Distance means nothing when someone means everything.

There's a book out there called Uncoupling that was recommended to me a few years ago. It makes sense of the breakup and helped me move on. I also recommend autopsying the relationship. Link to autopsy.
