    Making friends?

Hi guys! For those who didn't see my story a few months ago; here's a quick recap.

My SO and I were a little over 10,500 miles apart, from Australia to England. I closed the distance in October by moving to England to be with him and everything was (and still is) great.
My main issue at the moment is loneliness. I've not been able to find any permanent work so I spend most of my time at home by myself while my SO is at work. Im not great at making new friends so it gets pretty lonely. I try to keep myself occupied with hobbies such as crocheting and art but I still miss having friends to hang out with.

Do you guys have any ideas on how to make friends in a new country? Has anyone else had these issues when closing the distance?

Are there any social groups you could join where you could meet new people, maybe with the same interests as you? You could try looking on Meetup to see if there's anything in your area which might interest you Or while you're searching for a job, how about doing some voluntary work? That can be fun and it will make a great addition to your CV!

      What lade said.

I have no friends in Tallinn either besides a Kiwi who closed the distance with his Eesti GF. Have you tried going out with your SO and any of his friends who also has a GF/BF? My only real option at socialising is going out on the weekend and getting drunk, so that my GF's friends will open up and talk to me.

Thank you for that advice Lade. I hadn't thought about voluntary work, I might look into it

Tooki, due to a messy break up with my SO's ex, he doesn't have many friend's left either. He's got work friends who we both get along with, but as he is their boss, I find it a little odd socializing with them.

I think if you join Meetup you'll see there are a TON of people out there looking to make new friends and get out of the house. I came to the UK knowing no one and now I have a few different groups of friends. If your ever in London hit me up and we can do something.

Fair enough, I know how it is.

Try meetup then, there are tons of groups out there.

You could try looking around for a local Aussie transplants group too. There might be others from your country that have a local group that get together. Maybe even a local pub where they all like to hang out.
