I want to tell you a bit about my story - which, I think, represent a quite extreme LDR. I was born and live in Brazil and he in Germany. We met in 2008 while I was doing an Internship in Germany and he was a colleague. We were both students, so after we got apart we only managed to meet again after 6 months. We both were distracted with our studies back then, so we went through that time quite well. After graduation, we see each other every 3 months - either I go or he comes. The longest we were together was for 3 months. This story has been going from 3 and a half years, and the reason it's taking so long is career. I don't want to feel that I gave up on my professional life, which I intend to persue fully in Germany. I'll be done with what I need next year, and we'll finally be together. It has definitely required both our efforts for it to work. But it has been so worth it that I can't even begin to explain. I guess you get it. All the best for you who also found 'the one' so far away.

Welcome to LFAD. You're very lucky to have been able to spend 3 months together at one time I think! Good job on being long distance for so long too and for sticking true to your goals that you already had with your career. It takes a lot of strength to stick by such big career goals and have your relationship sit on the back burner while you work towards those goals.
