    Two of a Kind, Fatebooked

Prologue: A year before we met
After Graduating from Secondary school in June 2008 I moved up to Campbell River, BC to go to college. At the time it was the only college I knew of on Vancouver Island that offered a drafting program. So come September 2008, I moved up island... 250km away from my family to go college. I would be living up there for 10 months on my own before I would eventually move back home. It was pretty smooth sailing until the end of the year... then things got interesting. On my way down to spend Christmas with my family the bus got stranded on the highway because snowplows had to be called in to clear the road ahead. So everyone on the bus had to wait an hour and a half before we got moving again. When I did arrive back in Victoria it was around 9:30-10pm, the usual five hour bus ride took 14 hours, after leaving Campbell River BC at 8:30am. After the vacation I took the bus back upisland so I could continue my studies. But when I did get back up I found that my roommate left the sink full of dirty dishes. I refused to them, since I did not make the mess in the first place and when my roommates girlfriend came by I politely asked her to clean up their mess. She did so, but only to have that weekend my roommate give me BS about that.
About my roommate at the first place, he is in his mid to late 20's and has two kids. He also has a criminal record for being a drug dealer. But the landlords say he has changed. Since he is currently working in construction. Yet he still believes he can do whatever he wants and get smashed on beer while playing his music on max volume.
That situation in particular was the worst. Near the end of January he decided to through a party starting at 5:30pm. He picked up about a dozen 12 backs of beer (I seen them later that week outside) and junk food. He also decided to through this 'party' on a Saturday, after already having one party on Friday night. Around 11pm he cracked the music to full and I could hear everything clearly in my room with my door closed. I waited and waited until 2:30am before I called the police about a Domestic Disturbance. The first time they came they broke up the party, getting his guests to leave before they left. After that he got soo pissed he threatened he would break down my bedroom door and kill me. So I braced my door and called the police again and told them everything he was saying to me and what he was doing. He did go into his room and went onto his phone to talk to his girlfriend. When the police arrived they had to ask him several times to get off the phone and come out of his room so they could speak to him. In the mean time I spoke to an officer in my bedroom. When one of the officers were speaking to him, they eventually came back in saying he was acting very racist towards them. I asked the police at this point to take me to a hotel since I did not feel safe in my room with him in the same house. They did... so I spend the night... well, early morning in a hotel.
The next day my parents drove up to take me back home so I could find a new place and I wrote an email to my teacher saying what happened. I also picked up most of my stuff from my room that day and took it back down with me to Victoria.

It took about a week but I found a new place. Skipping a head a few months to April, my ex girlfriend said she tried online dating websites so I decided I would also give them a try... never know right? At the time we both were on good terms, talking once every few days for a few hours on facebook. But yeah, fairly frequently we would get into an argument. At one point one of her friends messaged me questioning what I said. But when I asked her about that she said she didn't know about it at all (clearly a lie). I kept checking those online dating websites (eHarmony and Plenty of Fish) until June. I did have one person message me on eHarmony, but well... to say the compatibility system works, I have to disagree since I ran into the most closed minded girl ever! We talked for two days before breaking contact. Once July came along I deleted both of my accounts on both websites and as for the question why I was leaving? Well it is simple... I selected it is full of jerks. I mean really when you have a pool of around 30 million people and you cannot find anyone like yourself....

Around October me and my ex had a bit of a disagreement ending with her and a few of her friends removing me from facebook. After that happened I felt like a weight was lifted and I could go on with my life knowing she isn't at all the one.

    The Story
Around August I went down to a metaphysical story to pick a gemstones. I picked up a mix of Jade, Onyx, Rose Quartz and several others I kept in a blue pouch over my bed. Since my yearly horoscope said I would find true love if I would be as picked I prayed in a way every night holding those stones that I would meet my soul mate in my Philosophy class. So when that year did start I kept an eye out for someone who could be my true love in that class in particular. Sure enough there was this girl, who caught my attention... but the only problem was I couldn't get myself to ask her for her name. Only after we got our first test handed back I heard the teacher call out her name, which kinda helped. It took me about two months to build up the courage to speak to her, being able to talk to her and ask her for her name. On that Fateful day November 3rd I asked her to see if she was on facebook and she said yes and wrote her name down so I could look her up.
When I got home after class I immediately did I search on facebook for her and it came up with seven people. Four of them with the exact same name, and three with similar names. I did the search several times... before I literally said to myself 'one of them must be her' so I decided to add two of them. The two I added I also sent a little personal message along with the friendship request asking to see if she was from my city and in my philosophy class. I sent that around 5pm my time.
    Hey Megan,
Are you currently enrolled at Camosun College and taking Philosophy 102?
after getting home from my night English I class I was shocked to find a response from one Megan.

hi, I am sorry but no, I am from Malaysia. nice to meet you by the way!
I replied to her message that evening....

    Nice to meet you too!
The only thing is there is a 16 hour time difference between us. Also I thought you where someone from college in one of my classes, but unfortunately this isn't the case. Sorry for the mix up Megan!!
and she responded, to which I woke up to the next morning...

yes, 16 hours indeed. Wow i guess i need to get used to it from now on. haha don't worry about the mix up, its nothing, in fact, we wouldn't have known each other if you didn't get mixed up. So i think it is something good i suppose. welcome new friend!
    I replied that afternoon...
Think of it like I'm a day and 4 hours behind you if that helps at all. Heh, besides the time difference and that we both do not know each other, I'd say fate might have something to do with it :P . So yeah... this can be considered a good thing and the start of a new friendship.
    and night...

So, what is like living in Malaysia? In the all my trips out of Canada I haven't really left the northern hemisphere, which is kinda unfortunate.
and she responded to my messages...

yeah, a start of a new friendship. ok its a Deal! oh Malaysia many westerners do not know that Malaysia exists so I am glad someone knows heehee we have 3 main races here. malay, chinese, and indian. but it is still an islamic country and we must adhere to certain rules and regulations(no choice). But to us chinese and indians, we have a lot more freedom than the malays. It is quite hot here. i have never seen snow how i wish we have winter here! many foreigners love the food here. basically, you can find all kinds of food! just name it. mm..i am studying in a local university here taking linguistics and languages. my second year now. I just finished my first paper today for my year end exam. what i like.... i love music, sports and video games. What is like living in canada? i have an aunt there but am not very close with her.
    And the rest is history....

    The Twist
Both Megan's both are born the same year only a few months apart. They both are Malaysian, either by parents or living there. I did have them both on my facebook friends list at one point, but I removed the local Megan because I feared I would message the wrong one.

    Conclusion
As of September 3rd, it will be our 10 month anniversary since we met. We both are able to read each other quite well and our love, even though it has hit some bumps, has continued knowing that we are going to together. We are planning to meet each other in person for the first time this December.

        Thanks!

If you both are wondering, I copied the quoted sections directly from our original fbmail between me and her. I could have added more but, to think...we have been sending one email to each other everyday since we met. So that would end up to be close to 250 emails in total... varying in length from 100-2,000 words.
