So I learnt some useful stuff when I was researching perminant residency the other day and thought I'd share it.
Canada seems very easy to get into :P
* You can apply for perminant residency from outside or from within Canada.
* You can be in Canada on a Working Holiday Program Visa and apply for PR
* If you apply for a "Family Class" visa (ie, to move to be with your Canadian SO) you don't need to be married. You can apply as a common law relationship or conjugal (sp) relationship.
* If you apply as common law you need to prove you've been together for a year (so you need shared stuff, like a lease in both names, recipts for household goods bought together, shared bank account etc.)
* I can't remember what conjugal means.
* Canada doesn't care if you're gay.
* You only need to live in Canada for 3 years to get citizenship.
I also learnt that if a Canadian has a baby offshore that baby is still automattically a Canadian citizen. The same is not true for Australia.
