So my SO and I tried Skype's screen sharing thing just for the hell of it the other day, and it worked when she shared her screen, but it wouldn't work when I shared mine. Turns out that she uses an older computer with a standard resolution monitor and I use a newer computer with a widescreen HD monitor. In order to get screen sharing working on my end so she could see it, I had to change my resolution to a standard/not-widescreen one. Then it worked fine for her.
I don't know how common this issue may be, but I just thought I'd share this in case anyone else has trouble.
