A blog has been cooking in my head for quite a while now, time to get it all out through the keyboard! I feel this will be a long one, so i'll separate it into sections with a tl,dr at the end. you're welcome LB

1- La vie à deux

In a couple of days is the 9 weeks mark of our closing the distance. the six week mark was one we were anxiously waiting for, as it's the longest we've ever been together tête-à-tête. So far things are good. We've started to find a little routine for the week and weekend, and we're checking in every once in a while to see if there's something that needs to be addressed. A few little things needed to be tweaked, and it only took a couple of phrases, so it's been great. For instance, my SO has taken on a few pounds since I've been here because he no longer exercises in the morning before going to uni, and has dinner with me when he comes home in the evening. so we're going to exercise together in the morning, and he's taking my lovely delicious irresistible meals for lunch at work heheh.
These past 10 days have been emotionally draining, PMS was a mess. it has never been this bad. but he was there for me, and succeeded in making me feel better. Had this happened a few years ago we would have been behind barricades! I'm so proud of all the progress we've made as a couple

Tl;dr: Loving living together so far. Came out of 1st PMS from hell crisis like champs!

2- Life in LA

We currently live near UCLA. The neighborhood is great, lots of shops (my interest is mostly in all the grocery shopping possibilities). Also, lots of people walking near UCLA, makes me feel like i'm in a REAL city! Can you tell i'm having a bit of trouble with the scale of things here? me? nooooo! It is so stretched! And no one walks around here, and well i guess it makes sense, as you'd get nowhere walking! I come from a city bustling with cars and sounds and life and people, shops everywhere, restaurants little eateries and the like all crammed in a tiny space! so imagine the culture shock...
Now i've visited the US many times, and LA 4 times, but living here it's different. I'm not very at ease with taking the bus on long distances yet, so i'm not exploring too much. I know I should, and I will. slowly getting there.
. . . . .
Insert two hours of YouTube here! I've been looking at videos of Beirut and Lebanon... Trying to find one to introduce you to the country/ city but couldn't decide on one so here's a sketch by Pete Russell; almost peed my pants!

The nightclub mentioned in the sketch is real, it's one of the most successful ones in Beirut. Great architectural features too here's a link to more info and pics of BO18.
Anywhoo, this YouTube spree has confirmed one thing though, I'm definitely missing home. Not in a 'i want to go back now' kind of way, but still. The good thing is my SO misses it too, and it's been 21 months since he's been there last so he doesn't feel weird when I start talking about random stuff from home. He's actually happy to have me to share this with!

Tl;dr: I haven't adjusted to being in LA yet. Don't really feel at ease with public transport on long distances, so I'm not really exploring. I'm a bit homesick, but it's OK because my SO is too.

3- UNI
Uni is good. The classes I'm taking are interesting, not too challenging so that's a good thing. Since it's an extension program, everyone has responsibilities and when classes end at 9pm everyone wants to get home so I'm not getting to know anyone yet. It'll happen though . no tldr here!

4- The wedding!
My sister is getting married this summer, I think I already mentioned that. After a rough few weeks, my SO and I decided I'm going back home alone. We are both part of the wedding party, but with flights starting at 1700$ and my SO not able to get out of work and university obligations it looks like I'm the only one going It was not fun telling my sister and her fiancé....

On the bright side, it's been fun helping out with the planning. We're still figuring out a lot of details, mainly though the bridesmaids look because it's in less than three months! We're going to try and make the dresses ourselves, or have them made by a local seamstress. My sister has a very specific thing in mind, and we can't find it anywhere in the kind of fabric we want.
Here's are pics of two dresses close to it, although we'd like it a bit shorter, and we'll wear it with a lot less volume under the skirt.

And so far, here are our shoes!

We'll all be wearing the same(bride and Bridesmaids). They are from Chromatic Gallerie. Anyone has tried their shoes? We got color swatches and loved the Teal estate. Waiting for final fabric choice confirmation from my sis for the dresses, then I'll order one pair for me to check out and see if these are really the one. Excited!!
Oh, and this is my sister's dress , for all you wedding porn lovers :- p

tldr; My SO can't go to my sister's wedding back home, everyone is sad about this but we can't do anything about it. Helping out with the wedding planning has been fun! Anyone try shoes from Chromatic Gallerie?
