So this is it?
THIS is how my life was always suppose to be. With a man that LOVES and adores me. The mutual respect, the fun, the laughter, and great times. Only took me 44 years to figure it out. To allow myself to be loved and to finally love back.
2 months and 4 days. That's how long we have been married. It seems like yesterday. It was one of the prettiest days ever...the weather was perfect. I got up at 1:30 am after sleeping only a half hour. I felt like a kid at Christmas. I came downstairs and just watched tv and surfed the internet. I wasn't nervous at all. I was excited to marry the man that had become my world. The Minister that was suppose to marry us decided the Monday before our wedding to cancel...because of knee pain. Which I found ironic because I live each and every day with chronic knee pain because of me breaking my knee 2 years ago. But that is neither here nor there but I wasn't a happy camper that 5 days before our wedding we had NOONE to marry us. We pulled together and started calling EVERYWHERE. Our third call found us the city clerk from the town we were getting married in... About 45 minutes from here. Background on this place...it is a BEAUTIFUL waterfall/gorge/hiking trail in a town called Ithaca, NY...where Cornell University is located. A beautiful, rich town. This waterfall is nestled in the nearby mountainside. It is called Taughannock Falls. Just in case someone wants to look at it...lol. So we found the JP to marry us an the week before was just excitement. We were working every night together at the Steakhouse and just having a great time....me learning the job and flirting with the cook (HIM!).....those were some pretty exciting times.
Back to the morning of my wedding. I woke him up at around 7:30 with the biggest kiss...telling him proudly.. "TODAY! TODAY is THE day!".....he just looked at me with the smile that tears at my heartstrings each and every time. We had a busy morning......and rushed to the beauty salon for my updo...which turned out FABULOUS......the pictures don't do my hair justice. My hair is down to my butt and she had probably 100 pins in there to get it all on top of my head...but I LOVED it. The jewelry was just cheap costume jewelry but it was so pretty. The shoes were actually pretty cute. I found them two days before the wedding. With my knee injury I have found it nearly impossible to find any shoe that I can wear comfortable that doesn't lace up. Since that wasn't an option...the sandals worked. I wish I could wear heels like I did when I was younger...but at least for now I have to pass.
The ride to the falls was beautiful. We did have to change the time of the wedding from 5 to 1 because of the JP's schedule...good thing it was a small wedding. I can remember the drive up and how happy I was. His Dad was following behind us. He had came in on Thursday from Texas for the wedding. What an amazing man. He was our best man and my best friend was the other witness. She was in the car with us...and I actually fell asleep on the way there. WHO falls asleep right before they get married? UHHH yours truly. I was so tired. I got some mascara on my dress and noticed it as we were getting out of the car...I was not a happy camper about that....but my photographer assured me he would be able to photoshop it out....
The dress. Ah the last minute change of the dress. The other dress fit so awkward....it was NOT me. The dress I chose we had found at a consignment shop. It was so pretty, so elegant and fit me like a glove. I couldn't of asked for a better fit.
The walkway to wear we said the vows was MANY stone steps. My knee injury has made me so very cautious.. I knew that I had to walk them in front of everyone...
