And I hate them.
Wednesday, my 8 hour shift, something happened to my left knee. I have hypermobility (it means my joints pop out easily but can go back in, painfully) so I just thought I popped my knee out of place and within the hour it'd be fine. Thursday I found it difficult to walk without hobbling and Friday I was limping very noticeably. I had work Friday so I called in and told my manager and she said it fell under workman's comp so she'd call the district manager about getting a doctor of their choosing. I never heard back from her.
I spent Friday in bed, in my mom's recliner, in my chair here (which is comfy) and generally rested. Today (Saturday) I couldn't take the pain. My leg was swollen, I was losing feeling in my toes, my hip was hurting, and my right side was taking all my 295lbs and beginning to hurt. We went to an after hours clinic where they did X-rays, to no avail, but the doctor was afraid I had a blood clot in my leg. And we all know blood clots equal a chance at a stroke. So off to the ER I go.
It took them 4 tries to get blood enough for bloodwork and the ultrasound hurt like blue blazes but I came out clean. They think it's either a joint or muscle thing so I'm going to an orthopedic doctor next week to see and probably end up in physical therapy. In the meantime I have crutches and an excuse to not work. (I'm still on the fence about quitting)
I feel a bit bad, I texted Hattie after they discharged me saying "lol my crutches are smelly" because really they are. He texted back utterly frantic and I think he's hurt that I didn't tell him I was hurt sooner, but I didn't think it was a big deal before today. Then again this is the man who didn't tell me he was out of work on med leave for a pulled muscle until 4 days after the fact so I guess we're even.
Thought I'd share.
