So today (Jan 7) was my 21st birthday. From a talk months ago I had expected first thing this morning for my phone to ring with Hattie on the other end badly crooning 'Happy Birthday to You'. Didn't happen. Turns out he forgot my birthday entirely which, while I'm disappointed, he was extremely sorry and I think I'll be getting a phone call or IM convo later when he gets home if it's not too late in the evening.

That aside, it felt like every other day beyond the fact I wore a silver plastic tiara with black feather trim that had a huge pink '21' on it all day. Hey, it got me free cake at lunch time so I'm not complaining. At 7pm my mom and I went to dinner at my favorite sushi/hibachi place with my aunt, uncle, and my male cousin's fiance, whose name is also Sarah. (I'm Sara, no h) I wore a pinup dress I bought in the summer when it went on sale that was pink and black. See my new profile pic? That's me at the restaurant. Sarah said I looked like I had a hat on when I stood in front of it so we took a picture. I got a free pina colada which was nice and he went easy on the rum so I only have a slight headache. Had strawberry cake after (my fave next to red velvet) and a couple gifts of money which I have set aside for my trip next month.

All in all it was a decent birthday. I spent most of it making bottlecap jewelry with SweetHeart candies, which look nice. I may re-open my Etsy shop to sell my candy jewelry sometime soon just to have a little extra cash.

So after I left last night I went to go finish watching a college football game with my mom in the living room before bed. Unexpectedly my phone beeps with a text and it's Hattie. We talked and I felt really bad for him because he was beating himself up over not remembering my birthday, he apologized profusely, and I spent maybe an hour or so calming him down until he settled and we talked/pseudo-flirted for twenty minutes more until he had to go. Somehow I think he's going to want to do something huge to make it up to me when I visit. All in all I'm just glad I got to talk to him on my birthday, which was all I really wanted in the first place.
