Well, it's due to a lot of reasons. I'll break it down because that will make my thought process a lot simpler... and hopefully more streamlined so I'm not spaghetting all over the place...

Work: Some of you already know that I got a new job! I absolutely love what I'm doing right now. I'm working part time at an animal hospital as a "client services coordinator" (a fancy name for "receptionist"). I've been there for about two weeks now - and it's great. I'm getting my cashier ID tomorrow so I'll be able to do actual invoices and be able to close out and what-not. And then in two more weeks I'll be getting my own set of keys (to the hospital, and to the pharmacy) and I'll get the benefits! Which means the kitties will be going to the vet in about two weeks...... poor little suckers.

Anyway, my little side business is doing okay. I've sold a few things - not as many as I'd like, but it's still in it's "baby" stage, so that's okay. The upside is there is interest and I'm working on a few custom pieces right now. Ties, skirts, custom etched glasses. Oh, and of course, some dog & cat ties. Because why not? I've done some reupholstering as well, which is a huge PITA, but so worth it!! I made myself a scrub top, and one of my coworkers said she'd buy one from me. So, I don't know. I guess it's turning into more of "custom items", which I guess works. I need to find another pattern for scrub tops, though, I'm not sure I'm in love with the one I used. Oh well, it works for now.

Nix has picked up a 2nd part time job at Starbucks, which is both good and bad. Good because free coffee. Bad because there are some days where we don't really get to see each other. Like today, for example. He started his day at 6:30, and will be at Sbux until 1. Then he comes home for about an hour, and heads out to his other job and will be there until 9 or 10. If he can get out at 9, he'll be heading to church for a meeting until 11. And then he'll want to go to bed. Boo.

Marriage: We're planning for our anniversary weekend! We're going to go to Baltimore and go to the National Aquarium and probably another museum or two. We've driven through Baltimore, but never been. We are really big aquarium people, and we've heard great things about it. Like that it's apparently one of the best in the country? Really? Hmm. I guess we'll have to go and find out!
On the topic of us having 3 part time jobs and my little business: it's hard, but it's working. We know this won't be a forever kind of situation, so it's not bad. Sure, there are some days we don't get to see each other, but then we'll both have a day completely off and we get to lounge around the house or do errands and just be married. So overall, it's pretty great.

Living Situation: Okay, this one is a little complicated. Ish. The lease at our current apartment ends on Sept 5th. We don't want to stay here - it's too expensive and we'd like to live closer to downtown. Anyway, after much searching, we found the perfect little apartment. It's within walking distance of downtown (and when I say "downtown" I mean it's Main Street. Like, literally, one street is considered "downtown"). But we're moving into the historic district, and we know at least 6 other couples/families/roommates that live within a mile of our new place. There are some pretty awesome stained glass windows in the new place. It's an old house that's been separated into 4 apartments. We have a 2 bedroom, first floor place. AND IT HAS A PORCH, guys. A real porch. Nix agreed that once we get the keys to the new place we can finally go use this gift card we got for our wedding on some plastic adirondack chairs. (I know, the plastic ones aren't that great, but we can get two for $40, and we have a 20% off coupon... and the wooden ones are such a pain to move and are like $60 each.)

Enough about the chairs... a group of ladies from church has decided it would be fun to do a progressive dinner around Christmastime. Okay, really, just a bunch of apps and desserts. But we can totally be part of it now, because we're so close to other people! Yay! Yea, I'm totally going to go all out and decorate the crap out of the porch for every holiday, it's gonna be great. (Yes. I'm excited about having a porch. It's like JD - if any one has seen Scrubs. All I need is a porch!)

Random Family things: So my dad is now working in Angola. My mom is still in California, but apparently they just bought a house near Lake Tahoe... I'm honestly not sure why. Dad will be in Africa for another year at least. And I don't think my mom is ready to move away from Cali just yet? Who knows. My sister is still in CO living with her boyfriend, and it seems like she's going to stay there. Anyway, partly because my dad is in Africa, but partly because of the job he is doing, he works 8 weeks and then gets 2 weeks off. So my parents are going to Spain for two weeks. One week in Barcelona and then one week on an island... I forget what island. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions of places my parents "must see" while in Spain, let me know!

My grandparents-in-law are going to come visit us in the beginning of October. I'm glad we'll have moved by the time they come visit - the new apartment is so much cuter than where we are now, lol. They're great, but... they're the nosy set of grandparents. (Everyone has at least one set of them, don't deny it!) Hopefully they don't get on our case about giving them great-grandkids... Nix's brother will do that if he marries this girl he's seeing now - she has a 6 yr old daughter. Cute kid. I remember getting all annoyed that he was going to give his parents the first grandkid when he was with the last girl who claimed she was pregnant... now... whatever. I'm over it, I know it was ridiculous - and I knew it was when I was upset about it too. But, oh well. Now I'm looking forward to having kids of our own, and we figure we'll stay here in MD until our oldest kid is ready to go to school, and then we'll move back to the midwest. But for now, we're good where we are.

Um... I think that's everything that's been going on with us. I think, I'm sure I missed something.
