I realized that at the beginning of this year I made a "2014 missions" blog, so I went back and found it. And I'm going to do a review of how I did on my missions.

Mission 1: Save 5k by the end of the year How did I do? Well, things were going great until the middle of the year when I suddenly found myself without that big fancy big girl job. I think I hit about 2500 in savings. And I'm trying really hard not to touch it, and add to it when I can.

Mission 2: Read 30 books. I'm at 28 books. Can I read two books before the end of the year? It's possible.

Mission 2.1: Cut down my screen time by limiting the time I spend watching Netflix (since I can't really cut out on work). Well.... turns out I can cut out on work! Ha! But, that led to more Netflix... so, I didn't do so hot on this one.

Mission 3: Figure out a better work/life balance. Well, thanks to a complete shift, I think this one is a success.

Mission 4: Get organized. Clean up the apartment. We moved! So... that helped.
4.1: We have 5 boxes ready to be donated, but we just haven't taken them to Goodwill yet. Check!
4.2: I want to purge my closet. I'll either donate or see if I can sell the clothes & shoes that are still in good shape. Check! I want to do it again soon, but check!
4.3: Purge the kitchen things (again). We have a bunch of stuff from the kitchen that we don't need in the boxes to donate, but we still have too much stuff, and not enough room. Did this while we were packing for the move. There are still things we could get rid of, however...
4.4: Finish putting up the wall decorations. We have a bunch of things that still need to be hung up, we just need to do it. We did this in the last apt... but now we're back to needing to do it again, lol.

Mission 5: Open up an etsy store. So I did this. And it's "eh" on the success side. HOWEVER. I have made a fair number of sales off of the etsy site, which is good news! I'm still working on expanding and being more productive in this respect, but I think it's getting there.

Okay. SO. 2015, let's do this again.
Mission 1: Be more active. Losing weight is a side benefit of this. But since I am at home a lot more, I find myself sitting on my ass a lot more. Which is no bueno. So I need to get out. Even if it's just to walk downtown and back again (which is like a mile-ish). I walk to work on some days, which is fantastic. That's about a mile one way. It takes me about 17 minutes to walk to work on a good day. So, to make this mission more achievable, let's say be "active" (go for a walk, dance, basically get my heart rate up) for 120 minutes a week. That's just over 17 minutes of activity a day. Which is like walking to work every day. I can do that!

Mission 2: Keep the apartment clean. His family is coming to visit the first few days of the new year, so the apartment will be clean for them. I want it to stay that way. It will get clean for like, a week, and then a week later it's a disaster again. So, I want it to be clean enough that we can have people over whenever. Like, we're hanging out and all want to go somewhere. Come to our place! Right now, no, we can't do that. Our place is gross right now. We're planning a Pi day party, so it HAS to be clean for that. Now it's just a matter of keeping it clean between the in-laws visiting and March, lol. We can do it!

Mission 3: Purge some of our knick-knacks. We have so much junk, it's ridiculous. So many "kitschy" things and I think that's part of the reason our apartment is constantly a mess. So we need to get rid of some of them. Sell, donate, give away, it doesn't matter to me how we do it. We just need to do it.

Mission 4: Eat better. And by "eat better" I mean plan out meals and do this thing again. I had it going pretty well for about a month, and then I stopped. And last night Nix and I admitted to each other that we feel like all we have been eating for the past week has been sugar. Bleh. This has probably inspired two of the missions so far, and I'm okay with that.

Mission 5: Adopt a dog.

Mission 6: Get a raise at work.

I was trying to think of a 7th goal, but I think 6 is good. I mean, I'm iffy on the 7th one anyway. Because maybe we'll stay here another year once our lease is up, or maybe we'll move back to Indiana. Who knows. If we move, we'll need to find new jobs. Or maybe I'll go back to school. If we stay, maybe I'll go back to school. Or maybe we'll talk about adding a 2 legged member to the family. Or maybe we'll do that even if we move. I think 6 is good.
