I am planning to go visit the States this summer for 3ish weeks- see the family, pig out on all the yummy foods I'm missing (Vietnamese and Thai food!), buy cute baby things, and so on. Well, my parents really want me to try to get a visitor visa for my (step) daughter. I agree that this would be awesome, but I'm just wondering how likely it would be that she would get one?

I know how impossible it is for adults from countries like Mali to get visitor visas....but what about kids? If the purpose is to visit her grandparents, and we show that she has re-enrolled in school in Mali for the next year, do you guys think it's possible? Is it worth giving it a shot? There are some things we have to get organized before applying for this: she needs a passport, we need my SO to file for full custody (which he should get pretty easily here), and we'd have to pay the non-refundable $160 visa fee.

Thoughts?
