So first of all, got my citizenship certificate today so it's official, I'm a Malian citizen! Wooohoooo!
I'm pretty excited to have dual citizenship and never have to pay for a Malian visa again! Also, if we ever want to go to other African countries, most of them don't require visas for Malians so I'm in. This was a problem last year, when my SO's grandma in Ivory Coast died and we couldn't go to the funeral because I couldn't get a visa on such short notice. Now, I could go with just my Malian ID card (which my SO is picking up for me tomorrow morning). We are currently working on getting our daughter's paperwork straight. My SO is in charge of her custody papers, showing that he has full custody. I am in charge of her passport which I should be getting in a week or two. And then we can go ahead and apply for the US tourist visa. I still don't know what our chances are (no one has responded to my question on Visa Journey) but I still think it's worth a shot.
I keep thinking of how amazing it would be for her to come. My SO's immediate family has never even met her. So his mom, dad, brothers, sisters, etc would be meeting her for the first time. She has met my parents but it'd be awesome for them to spend even more time together. And my brother and his fiancee have yet to met her. Plus it'd be just such an amazing experience- she's never seen big mountains, or met my doggy, or been around loads of white people
. Anyway, I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I know that there is a chance that her visa will be denied. So we shall see.
We have our first ultrasound appointment on Thursday. I am pretty excited but also a bit nervous. I mean, it feels weird not to have had one yet. There is like a small possibility that I go in on Thursday and find out the baby stopped growing or something. Not that I am obsessing over it, I just want to be mentally prepared. And what if it's twins?! I would freak out- and not in a good way. My SO keeps making jokes that it's twins, people love twins here and think they're good luck. No thank you!
Well, I think that about covers it. I'll definitely do an update after my appointment on Thursday!
Yay for visas! Thats always a load off and good luck o the ultrasound. Always nice to hear from you
Fingers crossed for your daughter's visa, for the healthy baby and non-twins.
(though having twins would be ideal for me!)
