I am home sick with an awful sore throat today, so I thought I might as well blog! I am been drinking lots of ginger tea with lime (we don't really have lemons here) and honey. And I've been gargling salt water (yuck). It doesn't seem to be much better but hopefully it is by tomorrow morning. You see, if we miss more than one day or work- we have to have a doctor's note and the last thing I want to do is go to the clinic.

Pregnancy
Well, I'm 31 and a half weeks! In some ways, it feels like I still have so much time left but in other ways, I don't want it to end so soon! Maybe I'll be singing a different tune in a few weeks but, for now, I still love being pregnant. I love feeling and watching the baby move- I know some people find it creepy to watch, but I love it! Rokia loves it too and talks to the baby, asking it to come out. The other day, she put a toilet paper roll up to my belly and talked into it- telling the baby she loves it and asking it to come out. The baby kicked wildly in response and Rokia and I burst into a fit of laughter.

Baby Names
We have a rough idea on the names but my SO is so unhelpful with middle names or spelling/pronunciation variations so I feel like I'm making final decisions myself! I am not telling anyone the names...but since you are all my anonymous internet friends...I guess I could spill the beans. And maybe get some opinions.
In his culture, babies are named after family members. Rokia is named after my SO's sister, for example. My husband is named after his grandfather.

So, if it's a boy, we've picked the name Idrissa. It's my SO's father's name and we both love the name. It has the nicknames of "Idi" or "Dri" or "Drissa". Like I said, my SO is unhelpful with middle names, so here are the 2 I've been thinking of:
Idrissa Benjamin (Benjamin is my brother's name and I love it as a name and may actually want to save it just in case we have a second boy someday)
Idrissa Cooper (Cooper is a family name from my side)
or...Benjamin Idrissa (just because I love the name Benjamin, but I don't know if my SO will go for that since we already were pretty much settled on using Idrissa as the first name).

If it's a girl, we have decided to use Sara. My mom's name is Sarah but I prefer the spelling without the H (I know this is a very divisive issue haha). My first worry is how people will pronounce it...I know the American side of our family will pronounce it like 'hair-uh' but I think that the African side of the family will pronounce it 'saw (as in see-saw)-ra'. And I don't even know which one I prefer! My niece-in-law is named "Zara"...and I wonder if their names will be too similar.
Also, our last name is really similar to the sounds in Sara, since it ends in "ara" as well. So I'm afraid it's going to be too..."Julia Gulia" from the wedding singer.
My other thought was "Sarina" which could always be shortened to "Sara". But my SO didn't seem to love that (He said it reminded him of the teenage witch).
Some other ideas I've had for the first name (although I'm worried to break my mom's heart since we already said we'd be using her name): Amina, Leila, Nadia.
And I have NO clue for a baby girl middle name!

Opinions? Thoughts? A cup of hot tea?
