I've been on maternity leave for about a week and a half and I am luhhhving it!

Every morning, I get Rokia ready for school and my SO takes her. Then I lounge around the house in my pjs, make a delicious breakfast with hot chocolate, and watch an episode of Scandal (do you guys watch this? I just started and it's really fun!) When I've lounged around to my heart's content, I do something productive.

Somedays, I bake easy stuff that I can freeze and have as snacks when the baby's here. These chewy granola bars that I made yesterday are soooooo delicious and have a simple ingredient list, which is key here in Mali.

The other day, I made fabric boxes (like these) to hold cloth diapers and receiving/swaddling blankets. I just used old cardboard boxes, some leftover fabric, glue sticks (yeah, my crafting supplies are pretty pitiful), and scissors. They are super cute and pretty handy!

Anyway, every morning I check more things off of my to-do list and feel super accomplished even if it's just a few simple tasks!

Then at 1 pm, Rokia comes home from school. And we eat and then nap. Then I have the afternoon to play with her, read, waste time on the internet, and so on.

Speaking of Rokia, she's been sleeping in our bed at night because it's been really hot and our room has the only A/C in the house. She's been really cuddly with me and sometimes I just watch her sleep and feel so sad. Sad that our time as a twosome is almost over. Sad that she'll never again be the only child. My mom said that these feelings are really normal and something she felt about my older brother, too. But that she just reminded herself that she was giving him the gift of having a sibling, a lifelong friend. So I try to remind myself of that and hold her close to me and try not to feel sad.

Last but not least, I am super excited because tomorrow, we (SO, Rokia, and I) are going on a little overnight right outside of town to this beautiful looking lodge/hotel. It looks really nice and I am excited to get into their pool! Plus, we really need a refreshing night away from this city. Here's where we're staying.

Bonus photo from last week! I will be 38 weeks tomorrow!
