Weekend Getaway
The weekend getaway was wonderful and much needed! We stayed in this really nice hut (hut sounds crappy but it was really upscale) and ate delicious food. My SO did the zipline, we did some easy hiking, and played a bunch in the 2 pools.
Rokia Turns 5
Rokia's birthday was on Monday and she's 5 now! I brought her a cake at school so they had a little celebration there. Then, in the afternoon, we took her and a friend to the park and then dinner at a restaurant. We were home too late for presents so we waited until Tuesday and had a small celebration just the 3 of us- presents and cake. It was much simpler than her birthday last year but it was nice and she was still happy!

39 Weeks
So here I am at 39 1/2 weeks and still feeling good. My USA due date is November 16th and my French/Malian due date is November 23rd. (The French often calculate 1st pregnancy due dates by 41 weeks rather than 40, since that is the average pregnancy length for 1st pregnancies). So baby could arrive any day now! I am hoping that he/she waits until at least the 19th since my doctor recently had something come up and is out of town until the 18th. I did meet with the back-up doctor and he seems fine, just not as awesome as my OB. My OB explained to him all of my birth preferences and it gave me a lot of confidence knowing that she really supports the type of birth I am hoping to have (unmedicated, unrestricted movement, etc).
Still feeling pretty darn good for being 39 weeks along. My back is starting to get a little more sore, so it's hard to get a really good night's sleep. But I nap everyday with Rokia, so that's helpful!
Well, that's all for now! Lunch still isn't ready...so now I'm chowing down on watermelon and beef jerky. Thanks for all the name help on the last blog. Our decision has been made!
