There was just very loud thunder outside but it didn't rain. So disappointing.

So, a little update is in order!

I did take the last week of August off, just like I said I would. I expected to spend it with my family, but somehow they decided that it was their last chance to visit my uncle in another city before my younger sister goes back to work, so I ended up spending four days at home alone. I didn't want to do anything beside sleeping, watching movies/TV shows and sleeping some more, and that's exactly what I did! My eldest sister, her husband and my nephew came to spend one evening with me and we watched a movie and my brother-in-law made us his famous cheeseburgers which turned out to be quite delicious!

You'd think that after a whole lot of doing nothing, I'd be somewhat refreshed to go back to work. Big mistake. I could barely keep my eyes open on the first day, and it didn't get much better until the weekend. This week seems to be going slightly better. But I'm surprised because I can understand being very tired when going back to work before, since I always do that the day after I come home from a visit, but this time I was supposed to recharge my batteries and it was even worse than when I travel :S Oh well!

Last time I blogged I mentioned my sister's wedding date and how it was all annoying and uncertain. Well, both mothers met up to discuss the subject and... apparently the boy and his mother don't feel quite ready yet for a wedding, at least financially, because they suggested we wait until September or October 2015 My sister was rather upset and disappointed, which is very understandable. That's not definitive, though. She is still intent on having her wedding sooner than that. We're aiming for April next year, which is very reasonable for me. I will be more comfortable helping them out financially then. We will see. But for now, December is free for me to travel.

In other news, Jaana and Tommi are also putting off their own wedding. Even though my mother-in-law offered to help them financially (the initial reason was that they were short on extra-cash) it turned out that Tommi is too tired these days, from work and other responsibilities, to help out with the planning, and Jaana doesn't feel like planning a wedding by herself. It's quite understandable and it's not like there's any hurry. They've only been engaged for two years They are considered common-law spouses, they own a house together and more importantly they have a child. Doesn't get anymore committed than that. Marriage is just a formality.

So all of this means that Christmas in Finland is happening I'm so happy about that! I got my ticket and will be flying there on the 17th of December (exactly one month after I come back from our weekend trip to Germany) and will stay until the 30th. My first Christmas in Finland! What makes it all better is that it's going to be a surprise visit, at least as far as my SO's parents are concerned. I did tell Tommi and Jaana and will probably tell Tapani (my other BIL) and I hope they don't spill the beans! My MIL is going to freak out so much (in a good way) when we show up

We have some stuff planned for our stay, like a concert to attend, friends to see, etc., but we'll be spending most of the trip in Vahto with the family. Quite exciting Also stressful because I want to do most of my Christmas shopping here and I have to think of what to buy!

So that's it for now!
