I think I mentioned we're not allowed to tell anyone what country the wedding will be in... because Obi promised his granny she'd be the first to know, and for some dumb reason actually intends to honour that promise. And of course, he's in no rush to go tell her. I just want to get it over and done with. It's on my mind a lot, pressure is starting to come in from friends and Obi's other grandparents...
Last night we had a quick visit, thankfully without my family there or it'd have all gone to shit in a hand basket, because his other grandparents came into town... and Obi made a not very wel thought out comment, and the subject turned to where the wedding would be... His Grandpa basically told me there's no point to having it Australia and then he's like "You don't have any family besides your sister anyway..." I'm like "I have an aunt and uncle, and some other random family. I have friends."
Obi just let me deal with it, once again. He apologised after, of course, but ugh. He said he didn't realise his GP was saying anything wrong... even though he was sitting right in the middle of it.
Tonight we have a family dinner, and Bec and Chris will be there too... I hope the physical presence of my Australian family reminds people to think before they speak. I'm dreading it. We leave in 15 minutes. I'm not in the mood to play nice anymore.
I gave Obi the final decision of what country, but I'm scared everyone will think I'm just selfish. Which is dumb because it's not like a Miriam to care what people think.
Whatever! Glad that's out of my system!
Happy New Years
We had a quiet one, just a few friends over for games and drinks. No one got plastered which was nice.
This year shall be awesome!!
9 minutes....
They should be glad to be in your life to support the marriage, not to support the wedding.
It went ok. It only came up once, and before the conversation got anywhere Obi basically said "we're not talking about it." Which was good enough for me.
