Food. I need some. Food then blog. Ok.
So, I got my engagement ring resized, and it still doesn't fit! Annoying. Yes, it is possible to have fingers smaller than a size 3. Wish jewelers would believe me. For the time being I have an elastic band tyed to the bottom of it to stop it flopping around. I don't know if I could be stuffed having it resized again, but Obi says he'll pay for it if I do, no complaints. We'll see.
Work today was good. I got in a bit of trouble for not going in yesterday (No one called me to tell me I was working, and when they called to find out why I was late the front desk girl told me I could just stay home, so I did. Which pissed my supervisor off.) and I recognise that it was entirely my fault and I did the wrong thing, but that doesn't make me care any less. It was the last weekend my sister will be here. Anyway, despite that and whacking my cheek into the door jam, today slid by smoothly and I'm in a good mood.
The nice thing about my job is that it doesn't really take any brainpower at all, so I spent most of the day dreaming about girly things like weddings and what I'll do for work when we go back to Australia.
Thinking of weddings, we ended up knocking the date back to the 5th of Feb 2012. We didn't want to, as we both wanted to keep our anniversary on the 4th of Dec, but it's probably for the best. We would have been pushing our luck to get back in the country and on our feet in two and a half months anyway.
Now, the main reason we knocked it back is Obi's sister. She's in uni, and told us we could not have the wedding in December, or in the late part of Novemeber. (Yes, that's right, told us. But rudeness aside, Obi does need her to be there so....) But, moving it back isn't enough for her. Now she's chucking a real shit about our chosen country.
Which I suppose is reasonable. It's a $2000, 15 hour flight. I'd expect some people to panic just a little at the thought... if the wedding wasn't a year away. But, d'you know what she said? "If I have to go to your wedding in Australia I wont be able to go to California this year, or to montrial (sp)" Sorry to inconvenience you, but you go to California (for Disneyland) every year. Seriously. Every year.
But she's only working one day a week because of her uni, and she doesn't want to put that money towards a holiday in Australia. Which is fair enough again. But instead of being a complete bitch and posting all over facebook about how she doesn't know her brother anymore and sending demanding drama-filled text messages she could ask us to help her. We know not everyone is going to have the money. We are willing to help people. But not if they are going to be demanding spoilt shits.
So yes. Obi's parents come back from their cruse tonight and then things should get even more interesting.
Welp, Bec and Chris are home, so I'm off to socialize! But I'll be back!
Lucy - We don't want to do two weddings. We've seen it done, and it was pretty lame. For us doing it twice just wouldn't be the same, just.. doesn't have the same feel. But it is a good option for people with large families in two countires.
Steph - imo, people who could afford to go to Australia instead! haha.
