It's hard to get men to say how they feel, but I was lucky and he opened up to me about what he's going through with me leaving. It came up in an odd way, apparently he'd been joking about it with his best mate - you know how sometimes people joke to tell the other person that they are actually really upset? Am I even making sense?

Anyway, here's what it looks like to him - He's 25. Living back at home with his parents, desperate to talk to his girlfriend in another country. Like, there's this huge regression he's having to go through, and that's very deflating!

But, I've gone down to the florist and ordered flowers for Tuesday morning (Which has a 50% chance of failure because he might think of the money rather than the gesture, but it was a risk I was willing to take) so hopefully, if luck is on my side, he'll get that before he heads to work.
Then I bought a card which I'll decorate, maybe fill with some nice fall leaves and post after 5pm today so that'll get in on like Thursday or so.

Kind of surrounding him with little reminders and surprises to fill in the gaps. I'm pretty sure I'll be so busy when I land that we'll hardly talk at all for half a week or more and I know that's tough on the person left behind because his life wont change at all except for this huge absence all of a sudden. So, I do what I can!

See, post from Oz to Canada takes two weeks (usually on the dot) so even if I posted something the day I land, which I wont, he wouldn't get it in the period of time where I'm still settling. However, something I've always wanted to do was have a series of cards arive, like every day for a week or maybe two - so I'm going to do that this time. Hopefully I can pull it off. I'm going to break the famous poem "Man from snowy river" into post-card-sized chunks, and send one every day for that period of time. I'll send them to everyone in the house though, not just Obi. I'm choosing this poem because I like Banjo Patterson and Obi likes horses

I also closed my bank today. Our plan is that I'll give Obi all my money and then he'll write me a (smaller) cheque so that I'm not completely broke when I land. I'm glad I got that out of the way.
Ok! I'm off to write in this card and make funny note cards to hide.
Love love!
