So it's all planning planning planning.
Yesterday we went to Balmoral Beach, where our wedding ceremony will take place. I was relieved. I made a good decision on that one. <3 The beach was fairly crowded, but we don't think we'll have problems with that on the day, we've booked the area after all and people are pretty respectful of weddings.
We didn't swim, but did a little wadeing, the water was beautiful and the sun was strong (and I didn't get burnt which is a bloody miracle. With the wedding so close I want to be extra careful so I'm not peeling on the day or something gross).
It was good to make the trip there so we know how it's done (not that I'll be on public transport that day, Chris will drive the 12 person bus we hired. - Yes bus. Not flashy, but who cares?) and what direction we need to face, what direction each of the quarters need to face etc.
Then when we came home, we started booking and planning the honeymoon. Oh, I can bearly believe my country has places so beautiful. It seems like an alien world. We're going to the Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef for four nights (We'd go for longer, but budget love haha)
We've booked an Indigenous spa treatment/ aromatherapy massage for the day we arrive, nothing for the second day (playing that by ear), a full-day scuba dive cruise for the third day, and a half-day visit to the famous Whitehaven beach for the third day.
Scuba diving was Obi's "must do" and Whitehaven beach is mine.
I need to be careful I don't fall pregnant before then though, because apparently you can't get a massage in the first trimester or scuba dive at all while pregnant. It seems odd to me that there are so many rules for pregnancy and yet man kind survived so long without them Of course, I'm not going to take risks, even if I don't understand the rules or the research is sketchy.
But yes, so very excited now! We've also found accomodation for our friends who we were supposed to put up, but can't coz we don't have our own place. We're sticking them in house-share. It's an eco-house (no plastic bags or bottles, veggitarian diet, fresh produce, chickens in the backyard etc) which will be interesting for our Canadian not-at-all-environmentally-or-health-concious friends. But it's the option we can afford where they can stay together in the heart of the city. They can go to the pub for a steak, and almost every park here has a free to use BBQ. Obi's meeting the guy tomorrow.
Obi's parents are being a right pain in the arse about it though. They knew there was a chance we wouldn't be on our feet. And we did soooo much research on places to stay for them. But they want sooo much and they don't want to pay the price for it. We've found them a share house too, looks like the best option for them and Obi's sister (backpackers would be cheaper, but that was too scary. A hotel would have everything they want but is too expensive - Dad doesn't seem to understand that it's our peak tourist season.) but it's also an eco-house (though they don't have to give up ALL meat, they don't have to help look after any chickens and there's a pool and gym besides that) but they are asking the same questions over and over and it makes me want to stab myself in the face with a fork. Obi's losing his temper with them too - which is a rare thing, the boy has the patience of a saint.
But yes, all falling into place nicely. I only have one BM gift to buy (for my bridesman. I have an idea, but it's not a great idea, so I'm not sure) and I'm waiting on the girl's jewelry to arrive. (Please please let it get here in time!!) and one of my BMs hasn't ordered her dress yet. (Please kill me)
Angie (the new sister) is visiting in a couple of days for her cousin's wedding so that's exciting too.
We're not in exile anymore, but we're keeping our distance anyway. Obi's allowed to speak again, but if he's allowed to speak to Bec, we haven't gotten the memo. Whatever, we can tough it out a bit longer.
So that's that.
Happy new year everyone!
