My SO is running errands, so I thought I'd write a little before starting on dessert for tonight. Last night, I primped a little and then excitedly drove over to his place. Parked behind the garage, I shed some clothing so that I was in my stockings, boots, and coat, then practically ran to the door. He welcomed me in and as I was about to throw myself at him, he calls out, "The girl is here!" His mother was there to see me, too! Don't get me wrong, she is a lovely woman, and I was happy to see her, but if I waited too long she'd ask her son to take my coat and... there I would be, just a horse short of Lady Godiva-ing through the house. I used the "long drive" excuse (I had been in town since morning and it had been a 10 minute drive, but no one needed to know those details) and scampered off to put on the dress stowed in my purse.

It was suppertime so the SO and I cooked up a stir fry (and I about started a grease fire, but that's a story for another time ) and the three of us had a nice, "family" dinner. We ended up slow dancing in the dimly lit kitchen while crooners played from the vintage radio and it was so horrifyingly romantic I was pretty sure I was dreaming of Nicholas Sparks characters. Then we cuddled up to watch a movie until his mother left.

On our own, we did as reunited lovers do: talk about boy bands. Only for a minute, thank goodness! So we were enjoying some private time - in HIS home - when Mom comes back! She had let herself out, so the door was still unlocked. The poor woman, we tried our best to play it cool, but I know for a fact she saw us staggering to cover ourselves. You might think, though, that in a scenario where your adult son hasn't seen his girlfriend in months, in the privacy of his home, they may - at the very least - be kissing, or something else you don't feel like walking in on...right?

I think she was lonely because her husband is out of town and she didn't have other plans. I know she didn't have other plans, because she sat down in the chair beside us to watch what was on the TV we had forgotten about! Talk about awkward. Finally, some time after midnight, we decided to disband, she went home and after he called to make sure she got there safely (I admit, I think he's precious) I got to do what I had wanted most of all...just to sleep soundly with my love.
