It is so interesting how my SO and I opened up a new level of experience when I got hooked into watching football (soccer). My SO was greatly fond of watching his teams play while growing up. And while we were dating CD, we would have Sundays or Saturdays just lying on the bed or sitting on the couch watching football. I kind of got hooked on watching the football games because of him and later because of the sportsmanship of the players.
Anyway, today I asked him to Skype with me. We've been Skyping almost thrice this week and I was pretty sure that he wouldn't call. But 30 minutes later, he called! We started talking about different things like the Steam Summer Sale, family things, portfolios, careers, etc...
Then 10 minutes before the Belgium vs Russia, we kinda prepared ourselves to eat (lunch for me, dinner for him), and watch the game together. It was awesome! Belgium didn't score any points until the last 10 minutes of the game! The game wasn't as action-packed as I hope it would be but it was our first time to watch the game together via Skype. It was a bit awkward having to watch the game at first but we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
Tomorrow's game will be NED vs Chile. While I have work tomorrow and have some legal appointments to do by lunch, I won't be able to watch the game with him. Either way, I wish my SO's team the best of luck!
Oh on another note, we have discussing plans to visit! yaay! but I guess that's a different story/ blog post.

So this World Cup is a bit of an Anniversary for us. Our teams are the US, Australia, and the Netherlands. We haven't watched it on Skype this year, but chat on Facebook during the games. Also, since he is 15 hours ahead of me, sometimes he is working, while I watch and take photos with my mobile phone, and send them to inbox. Today, I added another level to the experience: I watched the AU vs Spain, and the NED vs Chile games at the same time, on two screens on ESPN3 Live Streaming. He was planning to watch, but slept through it all, even though I messaged him at the beginning as was our plan. I told him I missed MY team mate, and he said maybe Australia would have done better if BOTH of us had been yelling at them.
