Yay! My awesome husband got us wifi and hooked it up so I can finally blog! (with pics!)
We got married December 14 at noon. A snowstorm hit that morning and I was a little worried about people being able to come, but surprisingly a lot of people showed up! And the snow gave us some pretty pictures after the wedding.
I was super happy with my wedding. Everything went super smoothly, and I feel like I had really great people helping me because obviously some things HAD to have gone wrong (like the mac and cheese defrosted and leaked onto my wedding cake…) but they fixed everything and were just perfect! I didn't hire a wedding coordinator, but I hired a family friend and her children to heat and re-stock the food for the buffet. Mr. K and I PACKED my car at Gordon's, and we bought his favorite fried chicken for the buffet also. It was actually super good, especially for our budget. Also, I am cheap and I was just going to buy sheet cakes because, hey, cake is cake! But a friend of my sister's told me that was NOT acceptable and she was going to make my cakes. As my wedding gift. They were amazing, delicious, and the BEST cake I have ever had!
A few things about the pictures before I post them:
1. I made my centerpieces and bridesmaids bouquets myself. It was WAY cheaper for me to just do it. They aren't AMAZING, but I really liked them.
2. I bought MY bouquet from Meijer for $20 the day before the wedding. It was perfect.
3. My sisters' bridesmaid dresses were all bought at the thrift store and cost less than $35 altogether. My mom was NOT convinced that they were a good idea, but I really liked them and finding them picked my wedding colors for me. The littlest one was a flower girl (plus his nieces) and their dresses were on sale for $25 each at Sears and matched all the wedding colors perfectly!
4. My wedding cake topper was one of those things that I had no idea what I wanted, and when I found it I KNEW it was the one for me! And I got it for $10 on ebay! Woo-hoo!
5. I wanted a wooden backdrop so my dad and brother made it for me, and my sister came up with the idea for the heart from this -http://www.pinterest.com/pin/562598178420608386/ - on pinterest. So we used nails and yarn to create the heart.
6. My church was already decorated for Christmas (and in my wedding colors!) so that made decorating the auditorium super easy for me! And it looked so pretty!
7. I wanted a picture of Mr. K and I in the center of the auditorium with all of the guests in their seats for a memory photo. I think it turned out really well.
8. I'm too crazy to have a unity candle, and I don't like the sand because if you shake it it just looks crappy, so I came up with the idea of a unity painting. I used a black canvas and a friend cut out some stickers that said "I Do" and stuck them to the canvas. We each had a different color paint and poured it over the canvas instead of lighting a candle. It didn't really MIX together as well as I thought, but I like it and can't wait to hang it in our little home.
9. In the picture of us kissing by the cake you can see Mr. K's scar from his super-scary tree accident a few months ago. I am SO thankful that he is ok!
23- that's too funny. I love that collection!
