- went to pilates
- made an appointment for a personal trainer session
- did laundry
- changed the bank details for our internet and electricity bills
- sent an e-mail to one of my profs and set a deadline for my paper.
Now I still need to
-
- go shopping
- prepare dinner.
Olek said he wanted fish and I think I'm going to make this . Then I just need to buy salmon, carrots and possibly cous cous (if I've run out). I should have the rest.
Not much is going on in my life right now. I work a lot. We had a workshop last weekend I was working 12 hours a day. Olek has a quadrillion of classes and most days we see each other in the evenings, but have to do uni work.
Which reminds me that I've finally gotten myself an office chair the other day. It's so much more comfortable than the kitchen chair I had been using before.
Our dining room (or the dining part of the living room whatever) also looks better with the two chairs.
Olek and I have started a table where we both write down how much housework we do. It's sort of silly to write it down like that ("vacum hallway - 10min") but I felt that we didn't share chores equally and it was starting to make me feel bad. I think it's difficult for Olek because at his home his mum just does everything. She works full time and actually a lot more than his dad, but she still cooks, does laundry, irons and cleans. His dad does some shopping sometimes and takes out the trash
In my family we've always had a sheet where we put down what we did and made sure the housework was divded as equally as possible. I know that it sounds a bit technical and like something only nerdy accountants would do, but it's actually really useful.
I'm going to have to work tomorrow and the next weekend as well. Next weekend, we're having a workshop on antiziganism and I'm really looking forward to that so much. The programme sounds so interesting.
Last weekend we had a workshop on the GDF secret service and visited a political prison (now museum) where we met with a former prisoner. That guy was one of the most fascinating people I've ever had the chance to meet. He was just so natural and nice and normal I guess.
The foundation where I intern used to have a pretty big project on work with time witnesses and he was there, because he had agreed to answer questions for us. I still felt a bit weird asking him personal stuff, but I eventually got over myself and asked if he met any of the guards or agents that interviewed him again or if he wanted to meet them and what he thinks it would feel like. (That's a pretty weird thing to ask someone you've only just met, right?) And he said that he hadn't but has been trying to organise such a meeting with former prisoners and guards/agents. Not to spit them in the face or beat them (which, considering what he went through, I would think a perfectly reasonable desire) but to ask them why they did what they did and whether they actually believed that what they were doing was advancing a greater cause aka socialism.
Like I said, super fascinating.
We also visited the archives where all the secret service documents are stored. They have three huge rooms with files. (In the 1990s in east germany it was 1 secret service agent to 180 ppl.... imagine the amount of files they have collected).
It almost makes up for how little they pay me.
Ok, I think I also kinda agreed to make a cake for the training/workshop we have tomorrow. I need to extend my shopping list.
And I should probably go shopping so I get dinner ready in time. With Olek coming back from classes so late (7pm today) I'm starving by the time he comes back and I don't want to wait longer than neccesary.
Oh and also, I'm considering getting bunny rabbits. I really want pets, but I don't think we have time and space in our lives for a cat or a dog. I'm still doing some research, but apparently if you bunny proof your apartment, you can have them run around free. One of my friends in school had a pet rabbit that she didn't keep in a cage and it was the cutest thing ever.
I love bunnies! If you train them to poop in a litter box they can evidently be awesome. Good luck
