My last blog was almost half a year ago. But I have an exam on Saturday (I know!! Who comes up with the schedules?!) and I can't study anymore today, it's time for a short update.
I'm about to finish the second semester of my M.Sc. computer science degree and we'll see how that goes. I only have three exams, because due to the classes being all on different days and me living too far from the university I couldn't really take a lot of classes. I had one exam yesterday, then next Saturday and on the 14th.
I'm not very confident about the next one, but I'm using this week to study as good as much as I can and just hope for the best.
I've started running! I've been looking for a sport that I enjoy for some time. I'm not a person for team sports (I dislike competition, I guess) and I didn't like the one affordable and not too far away gym I found here. So I did some old bodyrock workouts and looked for some other work out videos and started the couch to 5k training! I'm on week 2 day 2 today, but I run every other day so go through a training week in less than a week.
We live right next to a big park, which is perfect for running. There's a race in Dresden around our wedding anniversary and I convinced Olek to try the 1/10th marathon (4.2km obviously!) and then if I/we stick to it, I want to try a 10km race next year. I hope I'll stay as motivated as I am now. I know it's going to be more difficult once it'll be cold(er) and dark (!!!!). I don't really mind cold so much, but the days when there's daylight for only a few hours each day and those hours are usually the ones you spend at work or in classes? The worst! I really don't know how people who live further up north survive the winter.
But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Maybe the cold isn't so bad when you're running
On Sept 1st I'm starting my new job. I had been bored at my job fore some time and was looking for something a bit more challenging. I'm going to be working in testing/usablity for a company that does security software for authorities and such. It's closer to our place (~5km instead of the 8.5km I have now) and it's only a short walk from Olek's work.
Speaking of him, he's starting to write his thesis next month and hopes to be finished in the beginning of the new year. He's writing at the company where he works and they're paying him for his thesis! (Oh, to be an engineer!!!).
After my last exam we're going on a short trip with my brother and his girlfriend. I'm really looking forward to that. I love my brother and he's an awesome person, but he's not very talkative and we don't see each other a lot (family ldr!). I enjoy spending time with him so so much, though.
