So, my proposal didn't go as planned or expected, but there is a happy ending, at least

In my last blog post, I mentioned creating a treasure hunt for my SO in a park nearby his house, where he would find me at the end of the hunt. At first, everything went as planned. I put each clue in a cute bag with some candies, and left them throughout the park. As I was sitting at the "finish line" waiting for my SO, I realized that I had forgotten to take his house keys with me! He gave them to me when he went to work in the morning, but I left them in his room along with the first clue :/ I just prayed that his roommate would be home when he got there, otherwise he couldnt get into his apartment, and he would have no idea where I was.

I waited for almost an hour when I decided to walk back to his apartment and check on him. I got lost on my way back through the park, though, so it took twice as long to get out of it. Even worse, once I finally was on the right course, I noticed that some of my bags had been destroyed. Someone had ripped a few of the bags open, taken the candy inside, and ripped up the notes
It probably sounds stupid, but I was on the verge of tears. I'd carefully planned this proposal for months, and now I felt like it was ruined.
At this point, I was ready to scratch the whole plan when I saw my SO running up to me! He'd been locked out of the apartment for 1.5 hours until his roommate came home, then he finally found the first clue. So, we decided to go on the treasure hunt together

I was getting nervous as he found each clue, but I could tell he was having fun. Once we got to the final spot, I gave him my little speech, then asked him to marry me. He looked kind of shocked, but smiled and said yes. I could tell he was hesitant though. Like he didn't 100% mean yes. I asked what was wrong, and he was really honest. He said that he wants to marry me one day, but he doesn't feel like its the right time. His contract with his employer is ending in a few months, and he doesn't know what he'll do afterwards. He feels lost in his life right now, and he said he wants to be in a more stable place before he gets engaged. Of course, I was a bit disappointed and also embarrassed, but he reassured me that he wants a future with me. He also said he felt bad and he didn't mean to ruin my plans. I understands him, though, and don't feel resentful at all. So, even if my proposal was a fail, we both know where we stand with the each other, and that we want to have a future together. For now, thats the best I can ask for
