This is the story of a carepackage that was or wasn't lost...

So, on Oct, 4th I decided to send a little carepackage to my ladies. I had some sheet music for our daughter, along with some school stuff. Some chocolate, a few letters, birthdaycards for my sisters-in-law-to-be and a nice blouse I bought for my lady.

So far, so good. I sent it recommended, as usual. It was an 8-liter, 5 kg package.

The next day, the package was in the sorting centre. Since it was sent recommended, it could be tracked by a track-and-trace website, and I usually do. Within 2 days the carepackage should have left The Netherlands... but it didn't. After a week, the website still told me it was in the sorting centre. And after 3 weeks, the same...

Okay, that was new to me. I have had packages that spend a month in Manila, that were travelling for 2 months, or that arrived in just 2 weeks... But always they were out of The Netherlands in 3 days time.

So, after this 25 days I summoned an investigation. Still nothing. On Nov. 14th I got word that they couldn't find it, if I wanted a second, more thourough investigation. Yes, of course, I want my girls to get the package.

Now it gets funny.

Yesterday, my lady told me while we were chatting, that she got a text from the teacher from last year from our daughter. If she could contact that-and-that woman. Eve asked me about my opinion, and we decided I would do that (since I have a computer and that is a bit more easy than on a phone). Short story long... I contacted that woman, and she told me that she got the package that I sent to my ladies. She lives in Luzon, close to Manila, while my lady lives in Cebu, about 1,000 miles away (if not more). It had her address on it, in the handwriting of her - Dutch - partner.

So they investigated, and because I had a photo included with our daughter and her teacher, featuring the name of the school, they could trace her down. Luckily.

I got in contact with the Dutchman, who lives about 35 miles from where I live. He promised to ask his lady to send the package to my lady. Later, he said they will keep the sweets because it is too heavy and thus too expensive... Okay, keep it (I didn't like it, but what can I do - the papers and schoolstuff for our daugher were more important).

When I woke up this morning, I found an email from the Dutch Postal Service (PostNL) that they officially declared the package lost...

The great thing here, is, that somehow the address (in a plastic bag sealed on the package, with separate address on it) from one package moved into my package. The other package is really lost, while mine arrived just half a country from where it should have been...

So, PostNL declares my package to be lost, so I get a refund on that...

Of course, we still have to wait and see if the schoolstuff and the letters and cards do arrive with my lady, but I hope it will. And to be honest, I find the letters and sheet music and the things for our daughter more important than some chocolate...

So now, the day the package has been found, it was declared lost. LOL.

That is the first time this happened to me. I hope the last time, too...
