I realized the other day I never really made any sort of introduction post. I knew a bunch of people from LFAD on my old account but then made a new one and never said anything!

So here's a brief little bit about how we met etc.

Monster (as lyonsgirl and loveknowsnodistance27 call him) and I met online in July 2011. I had recently had my heart broken and decided to sign up for a dating website in a fit of “FINE! I’LL FIND SOMEONE ELSE THEN!" I had been browsing profiles aimlessly and hadn't really found anyone I was interested in, and truth be told when Monster messaged me I didn't think anything of it either. I admit, I was probably nowhere near ready to start dating again but...

The very first message...dun dun dunnnnn! (He was living in Florida at the time)

We exchanged a few messages back and forth, added each other on Facebook where we sent a few more messages and wall posts…and then our communication fizzled out. He became one of those Facebook friends who you never really talk to but never really delete either. I contemplated deleting him a few times when cleaning out my friends list but never did.

I got back together with an ex of mine and that lasted about a year before things finally fell apart for good. Monster then decided it was a good time to start talking to me again, and took on the supportive friend role. Of course, that lasted a whole five seconds since we very quickly connected in a way we hadn't the first time around. I'm not even entirely sure how it happened. I guess the timing was right.

I poke fun at him regularly about how he ignored me for a year. He claims he didn't think I’d be interested in a long distance relationship (If he only knew! I’d been in 2 before!), and then didn't want to be permanently shoved in the friend zone when I began dating someone else, but hey.

After a few weeks of us texting back and forth and Skyping regularly, I mentioned that he hadn't bothered to ask me out yet. So, he did. Obviously. We made it “official" (aka we posted it on Facebook) when he visited me for the first time in December 2012.

A few months later he moved from New Hampshire to New York to be closer to me, cutting the distance in half. It’s allowed us to have a lot more visits and I'm very grateful for that. That’s pretty much as close as we can get to each other until we begin our immigration paperwork. I'm happy to say that will be soon, since he asked me to marry him at the end of June!
