Well today my SO asked my daddy for permission to ask for my hand in marriage. I was totally sure that my dad was going to give my SO a hard time. He's that kind of guy - he likes to put you on the spot. But he actually didn't really. He just wanted to make sure that my SO and I have a solid financial plan (we do - we actually have two different plans depending on our financial aid status for college) and that we know marriage is a lifelong commitment. He then gave my SO permission!
It was really important for me that my SO got my father's permission so I am obviously really happy.So now I'm just waiting on the proposal - which I'm hoping will be when he visits me for his Spring Break! I'm visiting him for mine the week before his but I think a tropical proposal is more his style. We shall see!
