    He got the job!

I just wanted to share my small happy. Obi finally got a job in his field (VFX) and starts early next month. It's taken so much looking and phone calls, cover letters, emails, nagging of recruitment officers... but his persistance has paid off. - Even if this job pays half of what he's earning now.

Of course it means we'll see each other less - much less if they put him on shift work, which they've discussed doing - and I feel like I'm prepareing to go long distance again, but in the same house. I hope the skills I picked up being far away will aid us in holding this together.

If necessary, we'll go back to writing letterbooks. We're both dreading this. I didn't come all this way to not see him. But if I want to go to uni, he needs to have job experience so he can work in my country, so I need to suck it up and support him.

I know how much he loves his work though, and that makes me happy. It's another step closer to a solid future!

Congratulations to him, I bet this is just as much exciting as it is a bit dreading because at least now he is finally in a job where he wants to be there is nothing more than working somewhere you hate.

I am sure that you will both figure it out so it doesn't feel like you aren't seeing each other so much. And Congratulations again

I don't think there's anything you 2 can't work out, you've already made it this far and I'm 100% sure things will work out just fine. You both sound very determined and devoted people and your relationship is strong enough to handle this. Maybe you won't get to see each other as much as you'd want BUT you still get to sleep next to each other, kiss and hug each other everyday which is something most of us are only dreaming about!

Congratulations to him for getting the job and keep up the good spirit Zephii and all the best with your studies

Two of my friends are VFX artists in Vancouver. I know the absolutely crazy hours they do there. 7 day weeks, 12-16 hour days. Eeep. I hope you guys manage this distance as well as you managed the last lot!

                Thank you all

Unfortuantly, if he were on night shift we wouldn't be able to sleep next to each other, or most other couple stuff that people often take for granted. (Though I'd not be ashamed to wake him up and demand cuddles if I got desperate enough ).

Molly, I'm completely scared by the crazy hours many people in VFX work. I keep hearing about it, but my mind can't grasp why anyone would want to work that much. I'm pretty sure it will cause problems down the road if all VFX jobs end up like that. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Thank you all for your support and congratulations and stuff

Congrats from me as well! As ever, I'm awed by your determination and selflessness. You seem to know very well what to expect and it's good to be prepared. My father worked three shifts, too, and it was very hard on both my mom and me. But you've done it before, so I'm sure you can do it again!
