Need advice from someone who used international movers.

    Greetings from the US.
I am in the process of getting rid of my stuff, but I am moving some pieces of furniture, household and personal items and I'm trying to figure out how to pack everything and what it's going to cost. Do they charge by cubic foot, container size, weight? Does everything have to be in a box? What happens once the items get into the UK? I have so many questions and I go to these international movers sites and request a quote but I never hear from anyone. If I'm in the wrong forum, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I think unless you have real grown up furniture that cost lots you just just sell it. You can get lots of good quality furniture when you get to the UK for half the hassle. Sell the stuff you have even if its only for a fraction of what you paid and put it toward new stuff. When I came to the uk for two years I bought a suitcase.

Yes, it's "grown up" furniture. I am 42 with a 20yr old in college. The three items I'm bringing are priceless to me. Everything I want to move I will not part with.
