16 Months To The Day We Started Our LDR...

    .... we're ending it!

On Wednesday, I got my Tier 5 visa approved to move from Canada - the UK.

On Saturday, I booked my plane ticket.

I leave on October 29 & arrive in the UK on October 30 - exactly 16 months to the day we started our LDR. I can't believe it's happening!!

Here's a timeline of my visa story, if anyone is curious:
August 1, 2012 - Submitted application to SWAP
August 3, 2012 - Received the email welcoming me to the SWAP program & telling me to gather my documents
August 17, 2012 - Finally gathered all those documents & submitted them to SWAP...
August 23, 2012 - Got the word from SWAP my application had been lodged & I could proceed with the obtaining a bank letter & booking a VAC appointment
August 23, 2012 - September 18, 2012 - Had a not so fun time trying to get a bank letter from my bank... 2/3 they sent me contained errors (such as missing stamps)! Ah well, one was right. Word of advice: don't bank with PC Financial!!
September 20, 2012 - Attended my VAC appointment
    October 10, 2012 - Visa is approved!

So now it's just pack, purge, cancel phone, say goodbyes... if anyone has any advice for this busy time, let me know!

Congratulations to the both of you!! Looking at your visa timeline it didn't take long at all....did it? Perhaps the UK is quicker then the US.....I'm already three months in and not a word........

Anyway, all the best for the future......

Thanks! You're right, it didn't take long at all. I think it's because Canada & the UK are both Commonwealth countries & the Tier 5 visa is basically a pre-arranged agreement for youth between the two. I hope you hear about yours soon!
