Closing the Distance Sooner Than We Thought!!
I posted late last year that my SO and I had begun searching for an apartment and that everything was looking up. Well, we ended up not getting the apartment, but we're continuing to look. Anyway, we have started the moving process for me to move to him. The Swedish Migration Board's website states that it can take up to 10 months for an application to be processed. However, we have read about a few different people who has went through this process and most state that after you have an interview at one of the Swedish Embassies that you will most likely receive you decision within a month of the interview. Well, I filled out my application online on January 18th and sent it in. My SO received a questionnaire only moments after I sent in my application. He filled it out and returned it the same day. Yesterday, I checked my e-mail just because I had this 'feeling' that I should. When I logged in, I found I had two e-mails from the migration site. One of those e-mails wanted me to send two documents proving that my SO and I had met. We had to choose one photo of us (which was hard since we have hundreds) and a picture of something else (i.e. passport stamps, plain tickets, etc). I chose a picture of my passport from when I went to visit him. The second e-mail was telling me to contact the Swedish Embassy and schedule an appointment for my interview!! Unfortunately, they only take calls for that on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., so by the time I found the e-mail it was too late to call, so I have to wait until tomorrow. Going by those other people's posts who has been through this process, their interview was approximately a month after they received the e-mail. Therefore, I am guessing my interview will be sometime around the late part of February, which means my SO and I could have a decision before/around my birthday (March 29th)!!!! I am so excited and will keep you all updated!!
