UK to USA move, where do I start?!

Hello, so recently me and my SO have been discussing closing our 5,000+ mile distance, which of course is great however, myself being from the UK I am now needing to look into the very confusing process of visa's and citizenship and all the scary bits. I have no idea what visa I need to apply for or what exact things I'll need to allow me to permanently reside there. I would like to stay away from the fiance visa as although we talk heavily about getting married I feel the 90 day time frame to get it done would be too much for me at this time. So... Where do I start? What do I need? Any rough ideas for costs? Absolutely any help is appreciated, it would mean so much to me. Thank you.

Some questions to consider:

Have you visited and spent time together in person?

Do you know what it will be like to live in the specific place of US you are looking at residing in?

How will you get acess without marriage? You are 19, so I guess you are not qualified to get a high skilled job US is usually after. Are you thinking about pursuing an education in the US? Marriage is the safest route unless you are highly skilled.
