There's a chance that moving in with the bf might happen soon but I have one concern. Insurance. How does one get insurance while unmarried yet? We both have insurance under our parents at the moment.

If you can't stay on your parent's insurance, and don't have a job that provides it, that's what the Healthcare Marketplace (aka Obamacare) is for. You have a lot of options, and don't forget, if you're uninsured, you have to pay a fine at tax time. It's kind of a significant one for someone your age. My daughter has it, she was able to get pretty OK insurance that isn't horribly priced. Register and see what options you're given.

I don't think you'll qualify for a family plan, and your being older will not make him your dependant. You'll need to go to the Marketplace and read through the rules, you may need to purchase individual plans, depending on your state laws. Our separation of each other is an optical illusion of consciousness. ~Albert Einstein

I second what Moon said. After my dad retired last year, I was no longer covered his health insurance plan and had to get my own plan. The whole "shopping around" process may seem confusing, but it's not as difficult as it first seems. Also, you would probably qualify for a subsidy on a plan, depending on how much money you make. That can cut your costs by a lot.
Good luck!

You can also have your parents check their insurance plan to see what the guidelines are. Most insurances allow the children to stay on until they are 26. Both of my daughters are on their dad's insurance still and they are 20 and 21. For some, the child must still be a student or at least still financially require assistance from their parents to a degree. To those who dream, nothing is ever far away.
