Any ideas on how to save money?

Hey guys, I'm new to these forums! Me and my boyfriend plan on closing the distance at the end of this summer. He is moving from California down to Baton Rouge, LA where I am at. Are there anyways we can save money while making the move? Also, we really have no idea how we are going to ship his bed down. Is it just easier to buy a new one? Any help on this would be great, thanks!

I would guess that U-Haul would be the most affordable way to move the bed, or just sell, rebuy.
How is your bf making the move? Drive, fly, bus?

I vote buy a new one, or ask a friend to store his stuff for the first little while in case the move doesn't work out.

As to saving money there's a lot you can do. Don't eat out or buy take out coffe. Walk everywhere. Be careful with your utilities. Don't carry money/cards on you, only have them with you when yoy have to buy something, and when you do have to go to the shops only take as much money as you'll need for the purchase - it stops impulse spending. Additionally, never shop when hungry. Plan your meals by fortnight or month, and shop for items that can be used in several dishes so you can buy in bulk, which is cheaper. Take advantage of coupons. When buying meat look at the price per kg not the price for the overall package. Cut out items that aren't a necessity - like coke, that expensive but luxurious bodywash, alcohol etc.

      Good luck!

If you can put some money away each paycheck. I have two bank accounts so i put 25-50% in savings and use the rest for bills and leave a little for me. I am saving to go to uk to be with my SO so I haven't been spending anything that I don't need to be.

Are you looking for generic saving advice, or specific? If specific, can you give us some more details in order to help?

Sorry guys, I wasn't very specific. Well, I plan on flying there and driving with him to Baton Rouge. I will already have an apartment and everything set up. His car isn't exactly big & we aren't old enough to rent a U-Haul I don't believe. (We will only be 19 & 20). I was asking advice on how to save money during the actual move. And where we could find cheap furniture?
