    Themed Packages

I'm going to send my boyfriend a package very soon. I always send him one if I'm not going to see him that month...so I'll probably send it next week. I thought of changing it up a little bit this time. I'm going to make this one a themed package! I'm sending him a throw blanket from Thinkgeek that has binary code that spells out "blanket" on it and a Squishable Kiwi bird (inside joke) along with the usual things I send in his boxes. He's a computer science major so I think he'd get a kick out of the code, and he even hinted to me that he wanted that blanket, and the Kiwi will have him laughing for hours and he can hug it whenever he misses me. I'm also going to send a letter or a card in the box too. I really hope he likes it...do you guys think this is a cute idea to switch it up and send a themed box to him?

Actually I want to follow your example and I'll start thinking what to put on my box!

It's a great idea! I've considered doing it around exam times to perk my SO up because I know how stressed he gets!

I think it's a great idea especially if you send your SO packages a lot. It's a cool way to mix it up a bit.

Damn, this package won't work. I picked up the largest Priority Mail box from the post office today and the blanket is too big for the box, so that and a 15' stuffed Kiwi won't fit. =[ I think what I'll do is send the Kiwi when I receive it along with the letter and snack foods I always send. Then, when I visit in a month, I'll bring him the blanket. I'm so upset that this won't work.

The priority mail flat rate boxes are sooo small for the money. If I were you, I'd grab a ready post box and see how much that would cost!

Ooh, that's a good idea! Do they take forever to ship? My SO is in the same state as me....but I like my packages to ship quickly.

It shouldn't take too long at all! Usually about 3 or so days to my SO, who's 800 miles away. So it should take a lot less time for your's!

Change of plans. I will be bringing the blanket and Kiwi bird with me when I go visit him in almost 3 weeks. I'm still going to send a package next week, but I don't know what I should put in the box aside from the snacks and a card or letter. I need help!

Since you're seeing him in 3 weeks, it's hard to say. Maybe put something that will get him more excited for the visit? Though I don't know what that could be. Lol. Maybe keep it simple since you're seeing him so soon.

I love the idea of a themed package.

Is he a football fan? It's the beginning of football season (I think) How about a care package that goes with that theme? Maybe a T-shirt of his favorite team, a pennant, anything with his favorite teams logo on it. Then you could add snack foods to watch during a game. If you have the extra money perhaps purchase tickets to a game so you both could go while your visiting.

If he is not a sports fan maybe make a Halloween package. Include in the package little decorations like those spider webs and fake plastic spiders or tiny pumpkin/witch/skeleton decorations. Is there a new horror movie out or one he might want to own? If he is not into horror then maybe one of those cheesy scary movie? Don't forget the candy.

A fall themed one?? Maybe include a scarf to keep the cool at bay. Caramel apples. ummm... ok my mind is stumped on fall thoughts, perhaps this has something to do with the fact I live where we dont have seasons

I don't know how you feel about buying boxers for your SO, but Old Navy and Gap are always selling seasonal ones that are cute.

If you SO happens to be a gamer he might like these https://www.gap.com/browse/product.d...d=1&pid=875725 Space Invaders!! lol

You do not have to use the priority flat rate boxes.. look at the USPS website.. I always send packages.. and.. they go priority but I rarely use THEIR packages.. if you close to a walmart they sell boxes..

I once used a box fan box to send a package.. it wasn't that expensive.. it isn't size.. it's weight and you can get a good idea by looking at the usps site and then using a home scale..

Good Luck and yes I think it's a great idea.
