Hello fellow LDR-ers!
I feel quite fortunate to have found this place! I began the long-distance phase of my relationship on Wednesday - not thrilling, but that's life... at least for now.
I met my SO at college this fall. I was a senior, he a sophomore. I'm not native to the area, so when I graduated in May, I moved back home for a bit to get a job and save up money to move back close to him. We were going to college in San Diego, so it's going to take a wee bit of start-up cash for this broke former student to move back due to the cost of living down there. The sweetheart he is, he helped me move my things back up the coast to Washington and had a nice visit with my family and I. He's back in central California now, taking online classes and exams. He's majoring in aviation and has his private pilot's license, so a perk to go with that is that he'll hopefully be able to make an occasional flight up here!
On Monday, my birthday, he proposed to me (not exactly a surprise because we both entered the relationship seeking a long-term committed relationship)! I'm excited to start planning, and we're hoping for a date in late spring or early summer next year, after he finishes classes for the summer. It's tough to be apart because for the six and a half months we were inseparable. We both lived on the college campus in the dorms, had meals together, hung out and studied together, went on frequent dates. I have resigned myself to the fact that, while heartbreaking, this separation is currently necessary, but thankfully temporary.
All the same, it's great to find a community of people who understand the difficulties and longing to be with the one you love.
Look forward to meeting you all!
