My name is Savana, I'm 19, and I've been a bit of a lurker in the past but am slowly becoming more active.
My story is pretty funny in my opinion. I had moved towns while still in high school and lost contact with most of my friends. I reconnected with a friend and we decided to get on a website to talk with other people instead of just staying on Skype. I had gotten on and was waiting for my friend when someone came into the room and --get this, he pretended to be my friend. It made me laugh and I had this weird vibe that we connected so I gave him my Skype (not a smart decision in the slightest, I know). We talked on Skype every night and soon we started sending texts reminding each other to have a good day. He lives in New Zealand, so our days are completely different. A few months into our friendship we had gotten into a huge fight over how he felt like he was preventing me from finding someone here and being as happy as I could be (I know that's a typical breakup-type line from people, but he has insecurities from past relationships). As upset as I was, I respected him for giving me a real reason and being honest.
Over the course of the rest of the year, we barely talked. We told each other happy holidays and happy birthday along with a few "just checking in to say I was thinking about you and hope all is well" here and there, but we never really had a real conversation. We always caught each other at the wrong times, before work/school or bedtime. A bit after our birthday (the dates are 5 days apart) he caught me on a spare minute and asked if I had time to talk and see if we could work things out. We've talked almost every day since, and we're much closer now than we were before. We watch TV together, listen to music, we even sleep on Skype.
So that's my story. By some strange stroke of luck, we managed to meet, separate, and fall back together again. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm glad I can finally share my story with people and share common interests. (:
