Introducing myself - in an LDR and researching LDR tech this summer for internship:)

Hi all,

Just joined and thought I should introduce myself. I've been in an LDR for over a year now. We lived together for three years and now have lived apart for a year. I'm also a grad student studying social media and researching relationship-apps like Couple, Avocado, etc. that cater to LDRs (as part of a summer internship). I've seen a few threads here talking about how to manage tech and communication, and I'm excited to connect with people here on this topic. It might seem a little weird that I'm both IN an LDR AND studying LDR communication but it makes sense to me:-)

I'm thinking of posting a call for people to participate in my research on relationship-apps - probably somewhere in a tech-related thread. If anyone has any advice about etiquette or best way to reach people on this forum, I'd love to hear. I'm a total newb:/

Yes, I'd be super curious to talk to folks here using relationship-apps. Sounds like they're not for everyone, but I did find one thread where there was some discussion on this topic, so maybe I'll try there first.

Hi there and welcome!
My SO and I have used and still some times use, Couple and Avocado. Both are very similar and fun to use. We really like the idea of it being just for the couple and we mostly use them for the ability to send "kisses" and little drawings to each other. But the app that we always use is Whatsapp...not really an LDR app but when you are from different countries and can text for free, I would say kinda it is! Is there anything particular you were researching?
