    US and Japan

Hey all! I've been a lurker for a little while and finally decided I better introduce myself.

I met my SO on a pen pal finding site back in May. I posted that I was searching for a Japanese person to help me work on my Japanese skills and that I could help him/her with their English (I studied abroad in Japan and plan on returning after I graduate to teach English). She contacted me and we started talking. We ended up have a lot in common.

One day before she went to bed, she told me she had something to say, but was not sure if she should tell me or not. I told her to go ahead and tell me. She told me that she really liked me and wanted to be my girlfriend but because I live in America and she lives in Japan, she did not know what to do. She did not give me a chance to respond and went to bed!

When we spoke next (my later that same day, her next day...14 hour difference...), she asked me if I would to date her. I told her that I really liked her too, but that I don't much care for long distance relationships because I had a bad experience with one in the past. However, I told her I would think about it.

1 week later, June 6, I asked her out and she happily said yes! We have spent so much time on Skype just talking or watching anime together. It's amazing how much we have in common even though our cultural backgrounds are so different!

Towards the end of June, she decided she wanted to come over to the states and meet me during her summer vacation (we are both college students). She ended up coming and staying with me and my family for 3 weeks in August! We connected right away! Our time spent together was fantastic! My parents also really like her and are very supportive of our relationship.

She is so excited to come back during her winter vacation as well (she actually just bought her ticket today and will be staying with me from the end of January until the beginning of April)! I really want to go to Japan during my winter break and meet her family in person (I have met them through skype). She tells me that her parents really like me as well. As of right now, I'm planning on going to Japan from mid-December until mid-January.

After I graduate in May, I plan on moving to Japan to teach English. I'm hoping to find a job near her home!

Needless to say, things between us are going fantastic. I'm super excited for this winter! Anyways, that's our story so far!

          Hi!
Where in Japan is she from?
And where did you study? I studied at Kobe University
I'm moving to Japan next September (since I'll finally graduate university next summer). I haven't really thought about what job I'll do, since I will probably be stuck at home first with kids (the life of women in Japan). XD

              Hey!
              She is from Kyoto.
I studied at Nagasaki Gaidai! It was so much fun!
I will also be graduating next year (in May) and plan on moving to Japan. I'm hoping to find a job teaching English!
              Where is your SO from?

Ahh Kyoto is nice! my husband and I won't to buy a house either in Kyoto or Kobe. I'm pretty sure there will be many places to teach English in the Kansai area - especially in Osaka.
My SO is from Miyazaki - since you studied in Nagasaki I presume you know the location of Miyazaki XD (I'm majoring in Japan Studies and still after several years of study a lot of my class mates have no idea about where Miyazaki and other less known places are). I will be graduating around June, so we'll graduate around the same time.
I'm not a native English speaker, so my chances of teaching jobs are less promising. XD

Yeah! I know where Miyazaki is! I've never been there, but I've been told it is nice!
My SO tells me that she wants to live with me in Shiga Prefecture. Haha, so I guess we'll see what happens.
I'm going to visit her during my winter break (mid-December through mid-January), so I plan on doing a little job hunting for after I graduate.
For not being a native English speaker, your English is quite good!
I wish the best for you and your SO!!
