    Hello there...

I came across this forum by accident as I was looking for some ideas on what to write in a christmas card for my boyfriend.
First of all, sorry for any mistake. English is not my native language and though I have to use it everyday as well as in my LDR I still make mistakes

I’m Melanie and I currently live in the UK which is good as there are just around 100 miles between my boyfriend and me at the moment. Unfortunately, my ob is temporary and next year I have to go back to Germany. It’s 627 miles then
A lot of strange incidents had to happen until my boyfriend and me met (Including break-ups, job-related misjudgements and visits at the therapist). A lot more incidents had to happen until we finally went out.
And now everytime we see each other I love him more and more.
The problem is, I’m quite reserved. He knows I love him but I think I don’t show him as much as I could.
As he has to work over Christmas and New Year’s Eve (and I’m with my family anyways) I thought about writing him a letter so that even when he comes back in his cold room he can get a bit into christmas mood. But apparently it’s not that easy, especially as it’s in another language…
    Oh well, that’s my story
Will continue looking for ideas now
    Thanks for reading

Welcome to LFAD. Your English is just fine...even better then some who's native language *IS* English...heh. I found this community the same way (I was looking for gift ideas for my girlfriend). Have you thought about writing down what you want to express in your native language (German?) and then translating it to English? I don't know if that would make it any easier for you but just an idea. Good luck!

Hello Melanie, welcome to LFAD Do not worry about your English, it is just fine and you will meet many people in here, whose native language is different from English, so we are all on the same page Good luck with your relationship

              Hello again,
              aw thanks that's nice
In fact it should not really be a love letter. Just a little Christmas card and some warm words as he's all by himself after work on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
We will kind of celebrate it in January... okay, we'll have a nice meal together and go to the beach. Bought some sparklers so we'll light them which will be the fireworks
Think I found some words in English now. Just have to think about a "final sentence".
I think I'd struggle in German as well so I won't even try it. Otherwise I'll go crazy over translations...
              Good night everyone

                Hallo, big welcome!
We're a big group of people for whom English is not a first language, so no worries there.
