    I'm new here!

    Hey everyone!

I recently stumbled upon this amazing website and am grateful for all the support it gives to LDRs!

I met my boyfriend in 2012 at uni, where we have friends in common. He told me from the start that the next school year he would be going to Sweden for a year as an exchange student, but that didn't put me off at all. I knew that he was very special and didn't want to lose him. So we spent 9 amazing months together before the Big Move and we knew that we both wanted to be together and spend our lives with each other, this has helped us both cope with the distance. The hard part is going to uni, where I have so many wonderful memories with him, and knowing I won't see him down the hall, or won't go to his classroom during break. I know that this is an incredible experience for him and he needs to live it to the fullest, but sometimes I get very depressed and it hurts to know that he's enjoying himself so far away from me (I am aware this is very selfish on my part).

He will *hopefully* be coming back to Switzerland in June! Two more months of distance.. I know that's less compared to the months we have been separated so far, and I also know that a lot of you don't even know when you will be able to close the distance, so I realize I may seem very childish, but I have a very hard time saying goodbye every time and it seems to be getting worse as time passes. I know our love is strong and that keeps me going during the days where it feels like everything is falling apart!

I hope to get to know some of you a bit better and be able to contribute to the well-being of this amazing community!

Its hard growing up without a father, but its easy when you have a fantastic mother who plays both roles.

Welcome to the forum! It's good to be understanding of people in more difficult situations, but as long as you don't try to judge or attack someone else's relationship unfairly people here are pretty understanding that we all have different challenges.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! It's much appreciated! =D Yes, I am hoping that with the warm weather and Spring, the last two months of distance will be somewhat more bearable!! Seeing him in about a month *hopefully*! Still haven't bought my tickets... I'm really excited though!
