    Hello!

Was thrilled when i found this site, its great to see im not alone in how im feeling i find it really helps reading about others experiences and helping if i can by posting replies.

Do you find it helps having this community?

A question i do want to ask everyone is how do your friends and family feel about your LDR? I think im quite lucky as my friends and family are quite supportive and just tell me whatever makes me happy!

Have a good day everyone xx

Forgot to add im from Reading, UK, and my SO is from Cornwall, UK, we are about 234 miles apart which is pretty close compared to some people ive seen on here but to me it seems like we are an eternity apart. We see each other every 8 weeks or so which is pretty regular but the time apart absolutely tears me up, but im learning to cope with the separation very slowly but it does get harder everytime i say goodbye xx

      Hey

Welcome in this community! I'm just here since yesterday and find this site so helpful! Like I never thought there'd be so many people that feel the same way and that have the same problems and worries. And I really love it here, like everyone is so nice and helpful and I don't feel so alone with my problems.

And about my family and friends: my parents had the idea of the LDR between my bf and me, like we thought of it, too, of course, but yeah, they're very supportive, they say that so many people do it and that if you really love each other anything is possible, even the distance. And it's true and our friends are just impressed by me and my bf because we made it for 7 months without each other now and are still happy together and in love. So, luckily everyone is supportive and glad to hear that your family is too It would probably be very hard if family and friends wouldn't approve of it:S

I know that being away from your bf is hard, I really know how it is.. but you don't know how lucky you are, even though you are separated you're still in the same country and see each other every 8 weeks! that's just great. Like my bf is in Australia and I'm in Germany and I haven't seen him for 7 months, probably will see him in 4 months. So, even though it's hard, you're luckier than you think Luckier than me

And yeah, I know how hard it is to separate again, like the day my bf and me had to separate.. it was soo horrible and I don't like thinking back of that day as it was just too sad and just terrible

How do you guys keep in contact with each other?

      Welcome again

Welcome to LFAD! My family is supportive, but not as supportive as I'd like them to be...but I don't blame them because I am very young. Only a few of my very close friends know and they're very supportive. =)

To answer your question how do we cope, I haven't seen my bf in 7 months and it'll be another 4.. It is really hard and I'm really sad sometimes and miss him terrible so we talk lots on msn and send each other pics and texts and all, it's hard but possible if you really love each other. I'm willing to wait for my bf how long it takes coz I love him very much <3

Welcome to LFAD! I was very shy about telling my parents at first because I thought they wouldn't understand. They know now and understand that things are a little different now with the technology advances. They like my SO and can't wait to meet him.

                              welcome to the community!
honestly what helps me cope is keeping myself really busy. between school and everything else in my life it really takes alot from my time which helps ease the separation. we try to talk at least once in a day but what it comes down is commitment. As everyone says, its really hard to be away form the person you love but i think in the end it makes it that much sweeter and enjoyable
referring back to your old question about how much family support is given....in my situation my parents dont really have any idea because they are EXTREMELY old school time of parents (Dating isnt allowed) it would cause more drama and problems if i told them. We plan to be formally official to my parents next year
on his side his parents are super sweet and supportive. i have met them a number of times and when i was leaving to america his mother was crying..ugh it broke my heart ..she was such a sweet person..
