First time making a post like this

Hello... first time posting in a place like this, but I was wanting to get my story out here, lol. I've written this story a few times, already, so I'm gonna copy & paste it... Sorry if the read is a bit long, but I think it's all important in explaining how my current LDR started and where it's going. I encourage you to read through it! <3

I just got out of a relationship that lasted 8 years in January 2016, and the breakup itself was the most pain and betrayal I've felt in my entire life, by a milestone.

I decided to try a dating app called OKCupid a couple months after, and I became SO addicted to it that I found myself spending several hours a day opening the app every chance I could get. I searched for matches not only locally, but internationally, eventually discovering that I was seeing repeats on my feed... it was beginning to depress me to the point of giving up hope. I then saw a guy on my feed whom i recognized--it was someone whose YouTube I followed 9 years ago, and he was a very inspiring person I had actually forgotten about. I took it as a sign that meant, "Don't give up hope. Keep looking, because you're going to be surprised by who you may find, very soon [just like this]." I took that motivational message to heart and kept searching.

About a week later in late August, I came across a guy on my feed I've never before seen, from California. I thought he was extremely attractive, had a professional resumé with great job experience and appeared to be a very fun, outgoing person based on his photos and profile description. It seemed too good to be true; even though he appeared to be out of my league completely, and was looking for people "near him", I was brave and sent him a message anyway, because I had absolutely nothing to lose. ...He messaged back, saying his name was Alex and that I was "BEAUTIFUL."

We started talking every night on Facebook a couple days after and realized that we are everything we were trying to find in a significant other. What followed were messages from him that kept making me turn red with embarrassment. He was flirtatious, continued to give me tons of compliments about my looks, how nice I was, how we enjoyed the same activities, said I deserved only the best love and he wanted to give me as much happiness as he could.

About a week into talking with him, I was wondering why he was SO nice, kind and appreciative of me. I explained that I thought I was growing feelings for him. he then proceeded to tell me that, before I sent him my first message on the dating app, he had a lot of anxiety and depression, thinking he was going to do something stupid at some point (hurting himself). And then, suddenly, everything clicked for me; if I hadn't messaged him, we would never have met and he may have actually tried to do something stupid. I had basically turned his life around and made him happy again, therefore he wanted to give me nothing but kindness.

It was then that I explained to Alex how I nearly gave up searching for matches on the dating app until I found that guy on YouTube who motivated me to keep searching and listen to the small voice in my head. After this, he sent me a video of him in tears, saying he was so happy that we got to meet and that we are now a big part of each other's lives. And he stated that he loves me. And I was also in love with him. The same night, on August 31, we tagged each other as being in a relationship together on Facebook... everyone saw it, and were all very supportive.

The chances of us meeting was VERY outstanding and full of coincidences. Two of his Facebook friends are mutual friends with two of my friends from my small Kentucky town of 15,000 people, for example. In addition, do you know how love gives your chest a warm feeling? Alex made my chest literally BURN with love in just one week--something I have never felt being in person with anyone, ever. So, this is something I truly need to explore. Alex and I have felt so much for each other that it would be STUPID of me not to explore if we are truly meant for each other.

We made a Go-Fund-Me page since I'm not able to steadily save funds to meet in person (and he is currently in Mexico helping his family, with no current job), but I can't share the link on here, haha.

You don't need to view or donate to it, but this is to show that we are serious about making it work. I intend to move to California with my parents in the Summer of 2017, but I'm hoping to meet Alex before then... It's going to be difficult to wait that long, but we are both determined to make it work.

I wish you all the best with your relationship. All members here are saving to see their own SO's. So you won't get anything in terms of donations here.

Agreed. It's a wonderful story and I wish you the best of luck. Everyone here is saving themselves to visit their SO's or if they have closed the distance, money to go back and visit familiy. Things that may help are really check your budget and see what you are spending that you may not really need. Have a certain portion of your paycheck direct deposited into a separate account so that you don't see it and have it earmarked specifically for travel. Go through you things and see if there is anything you really dont want/need anymore that you may be able to sell. Pick up a part-time job. There are always ways without having to ask random strangers to fund something for you.
To those who dream, nothing is ever far away.

Distance is to love as wind is to fire. It blows out the little ones and fans the big ones.
