    Not a new face...

    Hi everybody, old members and new ones!

    I'm an old member who's been inactive so long, so only an reintroduction is in order:

    I've once spent time on here 2011 and 2012, when I was in a relationship with a man from South Africa. That relationship broke sometime in August 2012, shortly after spending three weeks together in which we found out a lot of differences. Well, that was that. I was not going to get into another LDR. Definitely not! And for a good five years that was true until I went on holiday to Budapest. Down the stairs I went, turned around and a guy started chatting me up. I ended up falling for that guy. Within five days! And guess what? He's an American. So that means, I've been in another long distance relationship with him for approximately 9 months already and it is going very well. I've visited him in the US in May and June recently and he is soon going to be with me for a short while in about two months and a half.

    Hope your relationships are going well too so far!

    Welcome back! I feel like that's just how LDRs are; you say you're never gonna do it again, and then there you are...doing it again. Romance is crazy like that.

        Hi! I am a newbie here.

        9 months! How do you keep things interesting and new?

        It's only been a few months for me and my SO, but... well, we were married to each other at one point lol... Long story. LOL

        We are not sure how long before we will be able to be together irl because of reasons... We talk on the phone often, have "date nights" even work together.

          @Harlequin: Yes, well... there's a reason why you shouldn't say never. I guess the joke's on me.

          @Lio: Thanks.

          @Xtina: Mhm, by doing new things I guess? Try out a new recipe together, go to a new place or just pursue new interests. That way it stays interesting, though not that new. At some point a relationship is going to be comfortable. We're at that stage atm, I guess, because we don't text each others for hours as we used to when we just met and fell in love.

          I checked out your thread. You're very patient. I'm not sure I could stick it out in your circumstances. Then again, you're not sure of a lot of things until you just do them. Who knows, maybe I would do the same thing.

            About eventually the relationship gets comfortable... Because we were actually married to each other years ago, it seems pretty comfortable now. I love how much we can laugh together. And we have a new level of communication that I think our prior relationship lacked.

            LOL, and no, I am not patient. It is not one of the virtues I possess. However, I do think that he is worth it. <3
