So, I've been a member of LFAD for a while, now. I even posted an introduction on the old forums.
However, I'm not in the same relationship I was in before, and haven't even really checked the forums much at all since the last one ended, so I figured I should start fresh with a brand-new introduction.
My last relationship didn't work because I was ready for a serious relationship and my SO really wasn't. We knew each other for a couple of years, we'd been in a relationship for about 7 months by the time it ended, but we didn't even get to meet each other in person until about a month before we went our separate ways.
I learned a lot from that relationship, so even though it hurt me a lot when we broke up, I don't regret anything, and I am grateful for all the learning experiences.
So, with my SO of now...
We have only really known each other for just over a year now. We were on the same forum as each other before then, but we hadn't really interacted much at all. Then I went to DragonCon last September, and we met there at a dinner someone from the forums hosted. Kind of a meet-up for us Dragonmounters.
We didn't spend too much time together, overall, but he did make sure I got to my hotel room safely at night, and one night I followed him and his friend around until 4 AM before I couldn't stay awake anymore. After that, we were friends for sure.
So since then, we've talked on the forums more, and then we found each other on Facebook and connected there. Over time we got closer and closer; he was always there when I was having a hard time with my last SO, and he tried to help me get through the pain of having to leave my SO.
A couple of months ago we started talking more and more and then we exchanged email addresses so we could use IM services, and it grew from there...soon we were talking for hours every night and then we both realized we cared for each other very deeply.
We've only really been official since this year's DragonCon (September 2nd is when it started), but the entire month of August we were basically in a relationship, we talked on the webcam every day for the 2 weeks that he had access to it, we've talked on the phone every single day since he lost access to the webcam....
We plan on closing the distance in April 2011, I'll be moving to Florida to be with him.
Until then, we're busy planning for that, planning visits, and just generally being in love.
He's everything I've ever wanted, and I am so very fortunate to have found him.
