    Baby Names!

I love baby names that have a story behind them or to know reasons why the parent picked such a particular name. My middle name comes from my grandmother on my mom's side. My first name is "Ashlee". The spelling is not "Ashley" because my grandma's (on my dad's side) middle name is Lee. Therefore, to even my name out for both sides of the family, it was incorporated into my first name to give me the "AshLEE" spelling

My SO's first name was just simply because his mother enjoyed that name. His middle name came from his great grandfather.

We've had the talk about baby names, even though a baby will definitely not be in the picture for quite a few more years. There is really only ONE male name we enjoy, but we have two female names that we simply cannot choose from.

For our boy: Benjamin Morris; Benjamin simply because I absolutely ADORE that name. Why? No idea. I just do. "Morris" is my SO's grandpa's name that he adored and idolized as he was growing up. His grandpa was a prisoner in the Holocaust that managed to escape with his life (thankfully) and he actually had fallen in love with his wife (my SO's grandmother) there. It is a terribly sad story with a wonderful ending for his family and they all continue their practices in the Jewish faith by celebrating the holidays. I agreed with my SO to honor his grandfather by continuing his name into the family I liked Jacob as a male name, but my SO doesn't due to knowing someone he hated in his past with that name.

For girls: Juliana Rose OR Olivia Rose; I absolutely adore the elegance of the two first names, especially paired with my great, great grandmother's first name as their middle name. We aren't sure what we are going to do if we get pregnant with a little girl, because picking between the two names is going to be extremely hard. I also like Shariden for a first name (my mom's first name is Shari), but my SO joked that he just thinks about the hotel when he hears that name (not considering the spelling).

Do you have baby names in mind? Does your SO? Are there stories behind why you have chosen that particular name? Do you two agree/disagree on any of the names?

And lastly, what about your own name? Your SO's name?

We talk about baby names a lot, but not as much as we talk about how we're not ready for kids yet

For a girl, we've settled on "Imogen"- I love this name, it's an English name which comes from Shakespeare, a miss-print of "Innogen". I think it's so pretty and I also love the fact that whilst it's semi-common in England, it's not used regularly in America, so it's a bit different I dunno what we will do if we have 2 girls, because that's the only one we both like lol

For a Boy, we like "Harrison"- my SO suggested it and I fell in love with it because my Grandad's surname was Harrison, and I worshiped him when he was alive. He was the most brilliant, kind, lovely man I have ever known- my SO reminds me of him in so many ways But it has to be Harrison. Anyone shortening it to "Harry" will be shot by either me or my SO :P I also like "Miles" or "Connor"... no reason behind those, I just like them

My name, my dad picked... I think they had a family friend called that or something, I don't know. All I know is my dad picked it out, and I was going to be called "Mark" after another family friend if I was a boy. My SO, his parents wanted an "A" name. *shrug* I joke they were being lazy and couldn't be bothered reading further into the baby-name book lol

In one of my favourite books, there's a little girl called Maylin, and ever since I've read that book I'm in love with the name. If my SO doesn't like the name, it could always be used as a middle name.
      Together since: Feb 23rd 2005.

My mom liked the name of a girl on a soap opera she used to watch with the same last name as her so me and soap lady have the same name. I have a couple names in mind for babies, but when I've mentioned a couple boys ones to my SO he didn't like them. I can only imagine name picking is going to be a messy process.

I have some names already picked out. For a girls name I want Francesca Victoria. Victoria is both my mother and grandmother's name and I just like Francesca. for boys I have Cesare, Lennon, and Presley. I want names that are uncommon but not weird.

I'm named after a famous model/ actress. My mom had it picked out since she was 14.

Do you have baby names in mind? Does your SO? Are there stories behind why you have chosen that particular name? Do you two agree/disagree on any of the names?

We have two baby names picked out, one for each sex. First is Lily for a girl. Big history behind this one for me. First of all, my middle name is Susan (my mum's best friend's middle name she gave to me. her daughter has my mum's middle name). Susan means Lily. I hate the name Susan, no offence to anyone who does have it here, but for me its old fashioned. So, the main character that I've roleplayed as with my SO is also my account name. Lily Chiba. She is married to Angel Chiba, who is a char he has played for 10+ years. Lily has always been a name I've loved and wanted to use as a pen name. He made the decision he wanted to name our daughter Lily. Or more specifically give her Angel and Lily's daughter's name. Lil Lily Chiba. So that's where that came from. For the boy, he wants to use Kyi (said Kai). Kyi was a character name for his god brother, someone he is really close to (apparently closer than any blood brother he has). Being that he wants three, I'm not to sure about a third name. I do like the name Asher.. or Isolde is nice. We've never had any disagreements on names to date.

And lastly, what about your own name? Your SO's name?

I can't say I know much about the origins of his name, since I never asked. Mine however, I was given from the actor Kelly LaBrook. My dad loved the movie weird science and I guess he liked her in it. So that's the name I got.

Nicole: I love the sound Imogen has to it. It's a very beautiful name you have chosen.

We both like the name Emilia for a girl, which is the Finnish version of Emily. I've loved the name ever since I read the books by L. M. Montgomery about a girl called Emily who is called Emilia in the Finnish versions. My SO likes the name Alex for a boy. I would like our children to have both Finnish and English names, either as a first name or a middle name. My SO's middle name is Chinese because his mum is Chinese and his family calls him by his Chinese name. I'm sure his parents would like our children to have a Chinese name as well. My SO is English but his dad's family is from Ireland so his last name is an old Irish name. So somehow we have to combine the Finnish, English, Chinese and Irish names.. Poor kids, what else can I say?

My name is Uila Engel (jop, Engel is my real last name, haha, and also my derby name. )

Engel means angel in german. the day we have kids I want Engel as their midddle name, as it is tradition in brazil to give the mothers maiden name as the childs middle name.

                for example:
First name Mothers maiden name Fathers last name

in my case is Uila Monteiro Engel

My father was one day in a friends house, and while waiting for him to get ready for them to go out, he saw a book, and started to flip through its pages. turns out it was a story about a russian princess called Uila. he loved the name, said when he had another daughter (he had my sister already, from his first marriage, she is 4 years older than me), he would call her like that.

My brother is Uriel Engel. my father is a police chief, and Uriel is the angel that protects the police (or so we have been told!) and we have the same letter for our names, U.

My SO is Anton, and I love his name, really do!

I want different names for our kids, like mine and my brothers, but not awful weird, just different!

but we havent agreed on many names so far.

The names we agree on so far for boys are Vladimir, or Andrei, or James. not set on stone, but those are the options we both agree as of now.

For a girl I really wanted Morgana, but he said no to it

The only name we agree so far is Luna.
                our story.

We did talk about baby names too! I know we even spent the whole day looking for nice baby names. I told my SO that I'd like them to have a turkish name and he said that if I want it it's ok for him. (isn't he amazing?? )

My name is Feyza, my dad gave it to me, I think the meaning was something like happiness and something more but I forgot really. My SO his name is Alex, I really like his name. His name means the defendor of the human I thought and I think it's a wonderfull meaning.

But it's not like we're gonna have a baby soon or anything, it was just very nice to talk about these things.

For a girl I love the name Sofia. Not Sophia, but with the use of an f because that's the way its written in both mine and my SO's native Spanish. I never really went so far as to think of a middle name though. For a boy, we both like the name Alejandro but I've been thinking about that one lately because its a mouthful I feel lol. Who knows! :P

My first name just matched my last night, but my mom asked my brother what my middle name should be and he somehow came up with one. (He was 7 at the time)
My SO was named after his dad. :P I don't think there will be a 3rd as I'm not really the greatest fan of naming your child after yourself. But yah.

I LOVE the name Harrison! but I agree with you, 'Harry' is just yuck! Unfortunately we can't just the name Harrison because it's already taken in the family .

my SO and I have talked about names we like and have picked out a few others though; I have always wanted to call a little girl Alyssa Aly for short. don't ask me why i love that name :P I just have since I first got curious about what I might call my future children.. thankfully my SO loves the name too!

seeing as we had a girls name picked we thought we should at least have one boys name that we both like (even though kids won't be til well into the future lol) Oliver is our number 1 choice for a boys name and Ollie for short is just adorable.

While we were discussing names the name Charlotte came up as well, and Charlie (or anyway you want to spell it) for short is a cute alternative to the formalness of Charlotte. I'm a big fan of choosing names that have good 'nicknames' or shortened verisons of the name (as you can tell) I really like having a 'cute' nickname and my SO ONLY calls me by my nickname (Jazi) and I'd like my kids to be able to have nice/cute shortened names too if they choose to use it.

as for my name; I don't think there was any particular reasoning behind my name other than the fact that my mum really liked it. She was tossing up between Jade and Jasmin. and I'm glad she picked Jasmin! yes, it is spelt WITHOUT an 'E' and I think she just preferred the spelling, which i do too. Most people spell my name incorrectly but once people get to know me i've had a lot say that they prefer the spelling without an 'E'. Oh, and a fun fact, my initials are 'JAS' and it wasn't on purpose. cool hey?

My SO and I have talked about names a little bit. We picked one name for each sex. For a girl, we've decided on Lillian Nicole. I have loved the name Lillian since I was 13 years old. My middle name is Nicole, and my SO decided he wanted it for a middle name if we have a daughter. We had a much harder time figuring out a boy's name. We finally decided on John after my mother's brother. In my SO's family, they have a tradition of giving the father's first name as the son's middle name. Our son's middle name will be Gareth.
I'm not sure where my first and middle names came from. All I know is that my father chose my first name and my mom chose my middle name.
My SO has a good story about his first name though. Around the time that my SO was born, his mom had a crush on a guy from an advert on tv. Apparently, there was a brief part in the advert that showed that his name was Gareth. His middle name David is after his dad.

We have talked about baby names, i had a list of both boys and girls, and went through it and he pretty much disliked them all lol but we narrowed it down. And then a few days later he had a list and we went through and narrowed it down. Right now we only have first names but we like, Ethan for a boy. And Keria for girl (although I don't love how he spelt it, i love how it sounds, but might play around with the spelling) I love this topic with him though. We both want to start our family one day.

As for our names I was named after a soap opera. And he originally was going to be named something else, which im glad thy chose not to... lol im not sure if im pronouncing it right. So im glad he's who he is now lol

We haven't chosen specific names, seeing as we very possibly won't have children. It is a fun topic of conversation though. We did decide that the kid will have a chinese name for a middle (other) name and we might put it after the last name like Chinese do. I'm fighting for the first character of the chinese name to be my last name. So first name - his last name - my (chinese) last name - a chinese character.

In my SO's culture, you name the children after family relatives. And they also need a Muslim name if we choose a non-Muslim one. So for a boy, we could use his dad's name (Muslim) or my brother's name (which happens to be in the Quran since it's a biblical name). For a girl, possibly my mom's name (which is also in the Quran since it's a biblical name) or maybe his grandmother's name.
