I love baby names that have a story behind them or to know reasons why the parent picked such a particular name. My middle name comes from my grandmother on my mom's side. My first name is "Ashlee". The spelling is not "Ashley" because my grandma's (on my dad's side) middle name is Lee. Therefore, to even my name out for both sides of the family, it was incorporated into my first name to give me the "AshLEE" spelling
My SO's first name was just simply because his mother enjoyed that name. His middle name came from his great grandfather.
We've had the talk about baby names, even though a baby will definitely not be in the picture for quite a few more years. There is really only ONE male name we enjoy, but we have two female names that we simply cannot choose from.
For our boy: Benjamin Morris; Benjamin simply because I absolutely ADORE that name. Why? No idea. I just do. "Morris" is my SO's grandpa's name that he adored and idolized as he was growing up. His grandpa was a prisoner in the Holocaust that managed to escape with his life (thankfully) and he actually had fallen in love with his wife (my SO's grandmother) there. It is a terribly sad story with a wonderful ending for his family and they all continue their practices in the Jewish faith by celebrating the holidays. I agreed with my SO to honor his grandfather by continuing his name into the family I liked Jacob as a male name, but my SO doesn't due to knowing someone he hated in his past with that name.
For girls: Juliana Rose OR Olivia Rose; I absolutely adore the elegance of the two first names, especially paired with my great, great grandmother's first name as their middle name. We aren't sure what we are going to do if we get pregnant with a little girl, because picking between the two names is going to be extremely hard. I also like Shariden for a first name (my mom's first name is Shari), but my SO joked that he just thinks about the hotel when he hears that name (not considering the spelling).
Do you have baby names in mind? Does your SO? Are there stories behind why you have chosen that particular name? Do you two agree/disagree on any of the names?
And lastly, what about your own name? Your SO's name?
